Colon Cancer Support Group

Colorectal cancer, also called colon cancer or bowel cancer, includes cancerous growths in the colon, rectum and appendix. Many colorectal cancers are thought to arise from mushroom-like growths that are usually benign, but some may develop into cancer over time. The majority of the time, the diagnosis of localized colon cancer is through colonoscopy.

Have been having a look though the members list for the site and notice there is a few people who have joined. I and I hope on behalf of the others here would like to welcome you all and invite you to join in the discussions or start your own if you have a particular need. There is bound to be someone here that can share their experience and a lot of support if required.

G8, I still remember the first time I posted on this site and was so happy to receive such support and know that I am not alone in this battle. Although it sure feels like it, I have a huge support group of friends and they love me to death but in the end, they are normal folks and I have stage IV colon cancer, so they can't possibly begin to know what it feels like. Alone is the first word that comes to mind, coming to this site made me feel there a lot of other folks going through similar battles. As well, I joined the wellness center at the Virginia G Piper cancer center and that opened up an other outlet for venting and meeting others. I will be there this morning working out with a trainer and attending a Yoga class.

i just joined and the support on this site is amazing.. I have been fighting cancer since i was 15 an i have beat stage 3 and stage 4 cancer and now fighting a boarderline stage 3 cancer but the feeling of loneliness was overwhelming the first two times and now that i have a signifcant other i dont want to bring her down and i know talking to others helps me be more positive

I commend you for reaching out, especially in light of you having gone through so much at such a young age. Have you met others at the clinic you were treated at that were your age? I know you are a young man now but are your parents supportive?
This is definitely a great place to be. I've learned a lot since joining on.

no the clinic i was out was mostly older individuals... I have rarely met people that were close to my age that have had cancer.. but i have recently transfer to princess Margaret hospital..which is the leading hospital in canada for cancer research so i am starting to meet new people
