Colorectal cancer, also called colon cancer or bowel cancer, includes cancerous growths in the colon, rectum and appendix. Many colorectal cancers are thought to arise from mushroom-like growths that are usually benign, but some may develop into cancer over time. The majority of the time, the diagnosis of localized colon cancer is through colonoscopy.
My partner has stage 4 and just had her first chemo treatment Monday. I'm settling into the advocate mode to be sure she gets what she needs to thrive and give her the chance to make it past the 8 percent survival rate stage 4 carries. She's a fighter and with my support she does well. Some days I feel so good to be there with her and some days I'm just so afraid. Mostly Its the long odds and not knowing what to expect that makes it hard for me. I want to believe but I really get deeply afraid a lot of the time. We plan to get married soon and that's a wonderful thing. I think I'm here to talk to others to see what there take is. I'm trying to decide what it is I should expect.
There are many sites explaining the Meg-Ace and I just picked that one for everyone.
Some people even gain during Chemo (I think do to the Dex) I did not and was one of those that looked so sick. I was down into the 80,s for my 'Mop-Up' Chemo.
4JohnsLove, thank you for your comment on the Meg-Ace. Yes Yes Yes try the high protein shakes too. With the Meg-Ace I could really take them and keep it all down.
I also purchased Two-Cal by the case.
This is a high calorie drink I gave a lot to residents to help them keep on or add weight.
I took a ounce of the Meg-ace every AM and with in 4 or 5 days you could not get me filled up! :) I always took the 2 Cal too! Two cans every morning about an hour after the Meg-ace.
The 2 Cal (By Ross Company) Has many things to help with the gaining of weight and used by hospitals and nursing homes (a lot like you were speaking of getting from Trader Joe's and 'Indeed a Excellent thought.
These products have almost twice the calories as your Ensure Plus and Boost. (they are good products too, but I was trying to show more calories)
I am in my 60,s and never weighed more than 110 or 112. Since I went on the Meg-Ace and 2-Cal I am now up to 126 pounds.
You don't really need a script for 2-Cal, but my Doctor told my Pharmacy to order it for me.

OH! drizzle, I just read your post and feel so terrible! Oh how I wish you had that life together. (you both sounded so happy)
Here we all are trying to help you get weight on her, and we are too late!
It broke my heart to hear what you said and her being so happy and talking 'Wedding Plans'
I am not going to take away what I suggested because there may be a time you can use it for someone else.
But if you want me too, let me know and DS will remove it if I ask them.
I do so wish you could have had that life together!
I wish we could have gave you the information earlier and it may have helped her?
We never know though what life holds. My thoughts and yes tears are with you through all this time.
I will light a Candle for her and both of you tonight as I often do when I have lost someone.
Again my heart goes out to you and you will be in my thoughts forever.
