GG, the sensitivity in eating / drinking anything cold should dissapear very soon. I am now 11 months since my last Oxi treatment and I had all 12 treatments of the wretched stuff...my hands still tingle some and react to the cold slightly, the feet are still very wierd feeling. Somedays are better than others. At least I can wear sandals now and not walk out of them. I'm now starting to get sharp pains in my feet and toe tips. They don't last long, but hurt like he--. I'm hoping this is a sign that they're beginning to wake up. I pray that your experience is much more forgiving.

Mine are gone have been off OXI about a 5 weeks. I never did have as bad of side effects that you had. I would have been glad to continue even with the side effects but could do nothing about the platlets. How are you doing? Are you just on the 5-FU? Think of you often and keep you in my prayers.

survivor & sunny -- does that mean I can eat cold stuff now, or will that make me worse ???

You eat whatever you want whenever you want. Once the oxi is stopped (at least for me)the sensitivity to cold food and drink soon dissapated...and has NEVER returned. Only my hands and feet are still affected. You should be fine :)

Sorry GG...I should add that maybe 4 - 6 days after my very last treatment last August, the sensitivity to cold was forever gone :)

Survivor is right... I am 10 months out on my chemo (oxci) and I only have sensitivities in my hands and feet left over - and that is subsiding as well. As a matter of fact, my hands are almost back to normal now. All other side effects have disapated. And I had motor skill issues, I couldn't button my shirt, put on a necklace or earrings, etc. Hang in there... you'll do fine. Mind over matter and most importantly, stay positive.

My neuropathy is just starting to worsen but I've found the more I knit, the better my hands are!!! The tip of my tongue tingles some times.

My cold sensitivity goes away on the off week so far. 9 down and 3 to go!

5 FU bothers me with crashing fatigue, acid reflux and weakness in my legs and arms.

Yes, Diane... Stretching out my fingers and toes seem to help with the nerve issue! Strange... the body is so amazing, isn't it?

Thank you all for your help, my acid reflux is about to drive me crazy. I've had it for several months now and i think my esophagus is going to rot or burn away. hate it !!!!

GG, my experience is similar to Survivor's. I was able to pretty much drink cold stuff about 5 days after the completion of Oxi, however, my neuropathy for my hands and feet worsened about 6 weeks post chemo. Now it's 6-7 months after chemo, and the tips of my fingers tingle slightly, but my feet are worse still.

Being winter here, I feel it more, and always need to wear something on my feet. When I exercise, after my hours training, I get cramps in my toes. It's still weird to put them in water, and ha, I do walk out of my shoes sometimes lol. Hey, I'm alive. I'll live with it. Coogee xxx

After only 3 treatments I can take the cold the 2nd week. Now starting to get cramps in my feet & toes. I'm lucky only 3 to go. Might have to go to every 3rd week....we'll see.

Hope you are doing better!!! I have been eating ice cream!! YUM!!! I said I'm going to gain weight during chemo. With just 5-FU I have almost no side effects. Treatment # 8 coming up on wed. hopefully just want to get it done!!!! As we all do!!
