Colorectal cancer, also called colon cancer or bowel cancer, includes cancerous growths in the colon, rectum and appendix. Many colorectal cancers are thought to arise from mushroom-like growths that are usually benign, but some may develop into cancer over time. The majority of the time, the diagnosis of localized colon cancer is through colonoscopy.

I went to my chiropractor who is probably around 50 years old and I was telling him about my colonoscopy. (When I woke up from the experience, a day later my lower back was out and I was in a lot of pain. Has this ever happened to anyone? I think they moved me wrong when I was out.)

Anyway, what I'm venting about is my chiro said he doesn't have to have a colonoscopy because he eats right and doesn't smoke.

So, are we to blame for our colon cancer????? That made me pretty grouchy. I still love the guy but I think it was a generally stupid perspective.

I also just saw a magazine article saying colon cancer is the 2nd deadliest form of cancer and it's preventable. The article went on and on about diet.

It certainly doesn't hurt to eat right and we've all been known to eat wrong. Very few people especially in this country eat correctly. BUT that being said - I am convinced some people are definitely more prone to colon issues and colon cancer than others. We have several in our family tree that had colon cancer back in the day when healthy eating and home cooking was smart and the only way. We got away from eating like that and most of our foods are shipped, pre-packaged, pre-cooked and loaded with preservatives. Meats now are loaded with steroids and antibiotics and the animals eat processed feed.

Bottom line, it is also genetically predisposed. Who gets that gene and who doesn't is a spin of the gene pool wheel. Only thing about your chiropractor saying that so boldly - it definitely got us to talking and that's a good thing.

It's people that think like that that end up DEAD! I know several people who thought like that and now are fighting for their lives. Imagine if he doesnt get tested then finds out he has colon cancer that could have been caught and cured but he found it too late. Those are the people that on their death certificate it should list Stupidity as their cause of death!

Yep people like this are a danger to themselves. This link is to a very inspirational Aussie who died of a brain tumor. If anyone knew what to do it was this man and yet this did not save this dinkum bloke.

I was eating healthy and doing triathlons and hiking and
I have been turning it over in my head a million times.
It could have been the fake sweetener, or the wine? or the
pressed chicken breast? or How about the divorce?
Who knows... no one that's who!
