So I had a review with the surgeon today of last months CT scan, the good news is that they think that the scan is clear, they also said that the CEA level was normal. Now for the detail CEA was up to 4 from 1, 6 months ago which is the top of the normal range, when my recurrance initially showed up on a scan but wasn't spotted my CEA was up to 2, when the recurrence was spotted my CEA was up to 6.4, the surgery a couple of months later found a 3cm tumor, a tumor at the entrance to my gall bladder and a whole load of tumors in the abdominal cavity so I am a little underwhelmed that they are not worried. Not sure what I expect them to do but I don't expect them to ignore it

omg Mark cant believe it, you must be in total shock even though you seemed to know in the back of your mind, its still a shocker, hope as you say they are not operating cos they are checking growth rate, keep positive hun, youve been an inspiration to me since i joined DS, good luck and best wishes comin your way, J

Mark I am so sorry to hear the news. About a year and a half after my initial surgery i also had cancer on my liver. I was lucky it was only in one place so I had it removed. I will say the location made it easy to remove on my liver. It's been six years now -- I hope you can find out more about your options so you can take the course best for you.

I love seeing your smiling face in your picture. The waiting between visits is so hard. I can't imagine they'll make you wait 3 months since they found a tumor. I hope you are getting some information and good news.

Not much to say other than although they haven't done a biopsy from what they have seen on the scans they are convinced that there is a recurrence. At the moment the want to watch and see because is the growth is slow then there is no need to rush into surgery, likewise the same with chemo, especially as chemo tends to have limited effect due to the poor blood supply in the abdominal cavity.

It was nice to talk to an oncologist who talked straight, also seems that she doesn't rate my local oncologist either.

In the meantime, I'm taking aspirin and cimitedine and keeping fit, unless they tell me otherwise I'm planning to go skiing again this winter.
