Colorectal cancer, also called colon cancer or bowel cancer, includes cancerous growths in the colon, rectum and appendix. Many colorectal cancers are thought to arise from mushroom-like growths that are usually benign, but some may develop into cancer over time. The majority of the time, the diagnosis of localized colon cancer is through colonoscopy.
Only 4 to go. Yea !!! They gave me another test for that crazy enzyme that I might have, it's some kind of protein thing that won't release the 5-FU in my body, hence I'm sick and tired all the time cause I have a body full of 5-FU. They reduced my 5-FU to 50% until they get the results back on the test. Wish I knew what was wrong with me, maybe they could fix me. It's a very rare condition so not much research available. I also get Leucovorin, isn't anybody getting that chemo. Oh well, God will get me through this mess, hope it's soon. Thanks for listening.

That is why the side fx are more intense, the drug is activated through the cells... It has been explained to me several times, but in fast talk.

How Leucovorin Works:
Leucovorin is a compound similar to folic acid, which is a necessary vitamin. It has been around and in use for many decades. Leucovorin is a medication frequently used in combination with the chemotherapy drugs fluoruracil and methotrexate. Leucovorin is not a chemotherapy drug itself, however it is used in addition to these chemotherapy drugs to enhance anti cancer effects (with fluorouracil) or to help prevent or lessen side effects (with methotrexate).
Fluorouracil when given alone stays in the body for only a short time. When given in combination with Leucovorin, Leucovorin can enhance the binding of fluorouracil to an enzyme inside of the cancer cells. As a result fluorouracil may stay in the cancer cell longer and exert its anti cancer effect on the cells. Leucovorin has almost no side effects of its own but when used in combination with fluorouracil it can increase the severity of side effects of that drug.
Glad to hear they're checking those enzymes and taking this seriously! I sure ho you feel much better now that your dosage is reduced and you're off the oxi!

I am concerned because this is my third time with cancer (they did find it really early).
Some people I have talked to have hinted that nobody can make it
through cancer 3 times. My hope is they are VERY wrong.
