If the docs say it wasn't cancer, they're sure enough to say it. Otherwise, if it turned out different, they would really have a problem. I had cancer of the anus (squamous cell) and also a fair size polyp during the colonoscopy when they found my cancer and it was removed and was benign. So I can say yes to most of your question except mine was not colon, it was anal (God has a sick sense of humor at times, just because I'm picky!)
I'm really curious about previous/different symptoms, if there were any. Hope I helped, but granted, the situation is different.

I also have spots on my liver. It's always best to get them checked but I've had mine for years. It's said a lot of people have them around here because of the chicken houses. (Don't know why).Thrush in his mouth? Candida maybe? How long has his symptoms gone on and were there any other symptoms?
A biopsy said no cancer, that means they actually cut into a piece and checked it. I'm wondering what a CT scan can do to compare with an actual biopsy. Interesting.

I wish there was an edit on this thing, I said liver but meant lung. Actually, I do on the liver too but they're benign.

Thank you for your response NormalP. Your response is encouraging and I'll try to trust that the tumor won't be cancer. My husband has some sort of irritation or infection in his bile ducts that the doctors are unsure what is causing. His stomach is irritated, mouth, tonsils, gums...it's not thrush or candida. It seems his whole system is just upset and he is losing weight. I'm hoping that the removal of the tumor helps him feel better.

We haven't gotten details about the CT scan - just verbally from the doctor that a malignancy couldn't be ruled out. It's all so scary to go through this again.

I'm sorry about your cancer, but so glad that the spots on your liver are not cancer and that your polyp was benign.

Are you continuing any sort of treatment and how often are you checked for cancer?

CL first up sorry to hear about your hubby. As for the polyp, I had some removed about 5 years after I had a resection for bowel cancer.

Doctor stated most people have polyps and normally do not cause trouble but because bowel cancer patients are checked more regular they have a higher find/removal rate than people who do not have the regular colonoscopy.

As NP said if they have done a biopsy and it came back negative for cancer then I think you are safe to go with that. Remember the CT scan just shows the abnormality and not what it actually is, that is what the biopsy is for.

I just wiped out my dang post! Ok, CarmeliasforLisa, I was asking about any other things that were odd before this came about. Maybe something seeming totally unrelated that you'd have to think about to remember.
And I was wondering if this hit all at once or came on a little more gradual? It sound digestive related for sure but if it came on fast? I'm no pro, just wondering if it could be tied in with something else.

Forgot to say, I was given the official remission diagnosis last Thursday.

I'm assuming they have taken into account his gall bladder and liver are functioning properly and I don't know why I'm thinking about the duodenum - sorry, that just came into my head for some reason.
Have they done an upper GI on your husband? Put an little extended camera down into his stomach and into-through the duodenum (aha!) to check out what they can of his small intestine?

Aloe Vera juice is good for reducing inflammation. Make sure though that the bottle is opaque. The nutrients are destroyed by light. It does not taste good so you might want to mix it with cherry juice. I hope that might help and I hope your husband feels better soon. My Mom had colon cancer that mastisized to the liver. I don't like cancer either.

When I think back, he's been having some odd symptoms for the last year or so - very low energy, low/low platelets, trouble sleeping. In about the last 6 months ago, his hygiene has suffered a bit. You could tell he just didn't feel good, and he'd become depressed. His stomach also seemed bloated, but I thought maybe he gained some weight - it's hard to tell after the first colon resection because his abdomen changed shape. then all of a sudden one day he couldn't have a BM. He's had an endoscopy that showed dilated bile and pancreatic ducts with no obstruction, inflammation in his stomach and in his mouth. Now he can't sleep and his bms are fluctuating between yellow diarrhea, loose stool and none at all. Good gall bladder and liver function so far, no increased white cell counts. But he feels like he's dying and he has absolutely no energy. His stomach is always bloated and he's losing weight. Mouth is always dry and he says his gums hurt.

I'm not sure if an upper GI is the same as an endoscopy, but I'll definitely check on that. The doc says they'll do more tests during surgery but haven't said what yet. I guess this is a life long disease. Nodules on the lungs are worrying me.

We'll try the aloe vera juice. I'll buy that tomorrow.
