Before moving into college, I didn't love myself, but I didn't hate myself either. I was in a pretty good place. Now I feel horrible about myself. My roommates are gorgeous and thin and I'm not pretty and I'm the biggest of our roommates. I know that I'm not attractive, and that I'm pretty undesireable since only one boy has ever showed interest in me in my whole life. All of the boys that I think are cute here meet my roommates and end up having sex with them instead of hanging out with me. I'm a virgin and I feel like I should have sex, just to fit in but I also know that's stupid so I won't. I just keep feeling like I'm second best. No one ever wants to hang out with me, and when my roommates leave the room when we're all hanging out as a group, everyone follows them and not a single person stays to chat with me. When people see I'm the only one in the room, they leave. They don't stick around to chat, or invite me down to hang out with whoever they're hanging out with and it makes me so upset. People actively avoid coming into our room if they know I'm the only one home and it makes me hate myself. I think my personality is okay, but people don't seem to care or agree. I never get invited to do things, like go down to dinner with people, go play games in the lobby etc. I feel awkward around everyone and I hate it. I just don't know what to do anymore. If anyone has advice, I would greatly appreciate it.

The best antidepressant is when my wishes are honored. An example, the faucet in my apartment was running although the knobs were turned shut all the way, and one of the pulling strings on my ceiling fan came off. As soon as I notified my maintenance man, he was quick to reply with the work order. RAPID response... he's getting my services around my apartment done. I appreciate my landlord and...

Hello,so I'm currently in a weird relationship with my long distance ex who I've never met in person and it's taking a toll on me. I've lost 15 pounds and lost my appetite, but I'm really attached to him. We've had a lot of problems and I think that has caused me to gain severe anxiety. I don't know if I should wait until it gets better or what. Everytime I've blocked him, it has tend to make me...

Ive found counseling and support groups (like DS) so helpful.
keep reaching out! and know it will be Okay.
In addition, see what activities or groups are offered on campus, and try to get involved with something. I honestly cannot believe I just typed that, because I am someone who does NOT like to put myself out there. But once you take the first step in calling someone, attending a group or meeting, texting someone, etc. it becomes so much easier.
College is all about discovering new things about life, school, friends, yourself, etc. The person I was when I started college was not the person I was when I left. I learned so much about who I was, and who I was was not defined by the amount of friends I made. The right friends will come along at the right time, and they will not make you second-guess your personality or your looks or ask you to change who you are. In the meantime, take time to learn more about who you are and what your goals are for yourself. Make plans to achieve those and show yourself kindness and grace.
You've got this!
I’m so sorry you are going through a tough time.
My son is a freshman in college, I’m glad he found a christian organization who is also his circle of friends and support group.
Online support groups like this is a huge help. I hope you can also try to join a support group that you can meet in person. Keep us posted. Praying for you.
Try to find support on campus and online groups like this are also a very good place to get help. I know it will be okay, just believe in yourself and don't get discouraged by what others say.
