Working on recovery

I really needed this reading today from In This Moment Devotional,"In this moment, I am aware". My codependent thinking raised its ugly head today and filled me with self doubt. Thoughts like... I'm being too hard on my AH, I should lighten up and give him another chance even though he's still drinking and behavior /choices the same. I woke up overwhelmed with feelings of guilt..regret that I let things get so out of hand. Anxiety that I'm not doing enough to fix things.
Then I read the CoDA 4th promise.." I release myself from worry, guilt, and regret about my past and present ". This is learning to truly forgive myself from my past mistakes, but also the understanding "I am a work in progress" and sometimes I am unable to identify my old habits.I believe with God's help I can be better identify my codependent thinking.
I know IT is not my job to fix my AH,deal with his problems - he is responsible for his choices. Now, I will hopefully begin to understand that if the relationship/marriage fails its not my fault. Once again, "I am a work in progress"
Thank you ALL for giving me a safe place to express my thoughts. Hugs

Hi. This is my first post. I'm here because my husband is an addict and it's having a negative impact on our marriage and my emotional and mental well being. He's an alcoholic who is also addicted to pornography and video gaming. He spends every moment that he isn't at work or sleeping drinking beer, playing his video games, and looking at porn. He's completely pushed me out of his life. We don't...
took me awhile to really work and to get steps
1, 2 and 3.
God did speak to me or it was my inner knowing
when i was finally ready to hear the message and
accept his help and my own powerlessness over
my xah.
This whole process is a journey and it was a very
slow one with me. We want what we want, it does
not mean we actually get it. Hugs
Courage to change ___ things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference.
I have never liked "the things" in the first two lines. I realize it was written/edited/widely adopted that way, and is literature, but (for my purposes) it seems too finite and measurable.
How many things are there??? How many can I change???? What about things I don't even know about???
Changing and accepting ___ things. THAT I can attempt today. That is a work-in-progress approach that I can live with.
as I always end - may the force be with you
