Codependency Support Group
Codependency is defined as someone who exhibits too much, and often inappropriate, caring for another person's struggles. A codependent person may try to change, or feel shame about their most private thoughts and feelings if they conflict with the other person's struggles. If you are on a journey towards self-love, this support group is for you. Join us and find others...
I am 51 yrs. old and starting remembering key points in my childhood about 2 yrs ago - strangely enough - after my father passed away. It was as if I could take those hidden memories off the shelf and look at them. A little movies began to play in my head as the memories unfolded. I started writing a timeline of my life and putting some pieces together.
I am thankful for this opportunity to look at my history but ........ it isn't easy. I think there is alot of shame (which is why we don't want to even look at it - this is totally unfounded because we were children. It wasn't our fault whatever occurred). Also, people don't understand. My codependent recovering self is now okay with that. My sisters grew up in the same house and don't understand but I do.
This group has given me understanding, advice, validation, support and I am so thankful. :)
There are rewards for doing the hard work of laying out who you are and accepting it.
