Values
A value is a fundamental belief or practice about what is desirable, worthwhile, and important to an individual. Everyone has different values, which are influenced by family, friends, teachers, religious affiliations, work/career, media, law, and life experiences. People may place value on family, having a successful and/or satisfying career, financial security, good health, honesty, helping others, religious commitment, friends, and education.
Values guide a persons needs, wants, and goals. These values, needs, wants, and goals influence a persons daily decisions. These decisions may affect their financial situation. For example, if a person values financial security, he/she may focus on saving, investing, and/or finding a high paying career.
Everyone has different interpretations of needs and wants based on their
personal values.
Needs
A need is something thought to be a necessity or essential items required for life. Examples include food, water, and shelter.
Wants
A want is something unnecessary but desired or items which
increase the quality of living. Examples include a car stereo, mp3 player, car, and designer clothes.
It is important to understand the difference between needs and wants and how they influence financial decisions. Financial decisions are influenced by a persons values and what he/she defines as a need or a want. For example, a person who deems a vehicle as a need will have larger expenses than a person who relies on a bicycle for transportation and sees a vehicle as a want.
Goals

Im ready to start...
