Hi there,
I don't know if this falls under co-dependency or anxiety or what, but does anyone out there have problems spending time alone? I do, and it seems like I have to plan every second of my day so that I don't have any free time, b/c I guess I don't feel comfortable in my own company. I go through periods when I feel fine, but then other periods when I have this issue, but I think I've been dealing with this for a long time. Does anyone out there have any suggestions?

Ice passed away in February at 17yrs old. She collasped one day and that was it. I am still crying. I miss her so, so much.I miss the smell of her paws, playing with her scruffy beard, listening to her bark in her sleep, the way she nudges my hand with her nose during our walks. I see her everywhere. In my car, at the door, under my desk, the neighborhood. I want to hold her and kiss her so...

I lost my dog last July to cancer, as some of you might remember. It was devastating and I got very depressed, but through treatment I got back to "my normal" last month. I've been poking around the rescue sites to adopt a dog and I've seen a few since July and I visited them but decided I wasn't ready. I actually adopted one in September but realized I was too depressed and it was a mistake so I...

Good Luck, God Bless
I do respect people who can spend time alone happily. I agree with pf123's post.
It took therapy for me as well as gradual behaviour changes. I took challenges, ten minute solo walks, shopping trips, time at hm at night. I then we to a rehab in the country where I learnt to exist within a community as an individual - I continued the challenges there.
I am now able to live alone with my daughter (my partner and I have two homes now) and exist within my relationship but have my alone time and give my partner the space he needs and is entitled too.
I used to want to die if I were alone for anytime, now I love it and crave it!
It is possible!
Journaling will help you realize your codependent behavoir and give you the outsiders perspective to find those behavoirs yourself. A journal is alswy something that that is good because it is something that other generally don't even see. Therefore you can not ask for approval.
Make your self happy. Do something for you.
I think you may have huge anxiety being by yourself. It may be that you have issues with who you are? If you are planning to be busy every second of every day, seems to me, like you are really scared of being by yourself. Perhaps by keeping busy, is the only coping mechanism that you know. If you dont feel comfortable in your own company, I think that their will be a logical reason why you dont. As you are on this site, I am guessing that growing up, was perhaps a painful experience. Sometimes when things get bad at home, you can remove yourself from yourself, if you can understand. This is a coping mechanism. I would try and find somewhere where you can do inner child healing. If that is you in the picture, you are beautiful, and always deserved to be loved. When you begin to love and understand who you are, both the roses and the thorns, life will be much brighter, and you will find peace in your heart. I am talking from my own personal experience. Have a look on healing your inner child websites. Joy to me is excellent

I then usually try to do something that will lift my spirits like dance and sing to the top of my lungs (I'm sure my neighbors really enjoy this), read a book, do some cross stitching (this is somewhat cathartic for me), or search on the internet on a topic that interests me.
I understand the wanting to get through this NOW, but as with every problem....it will take some time. Good luck!
At home, there is no peace, no "me" time. The dog, the 14 year old, and the 4 year old follow me into nearly every room. I can't even escape to the bathroom without the 4 year-old following me in. In fact, last night, she tried to Lysol the toilet seat for me, but ended up spraying it with hairspray. Nothing says love like a sticky butt.
