Codependency Support Group
Codependency is defined as someone who exhibits too much, and often inappropriate, caring for another person's struggles. A codependent person may try to change, or feel shame about their most private thoughts and feelings if they conflict with the other person's struggles. I think that I have posted about this person before, and am going to again. It's a real problem. I have a "chosen family," becuase my actual family is really dysfunctional. But, there are men that hang out there at their house who WON'T TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER. Earlier this year, the person in question sent me a facebook message and then retracted it, which was really, really, weird. He has seemed obsessed with me for like ten years. One of these men was told not to come back to my friend's house anymore. You would think this would send a message, but some of the remaining people are still acting weird.
These couple of men are like my parents' age. I remember saying that I was not interested like ten years ago, and have been polite but disinterested ever since. It is intimidating hanging out there at the house, and has gotten really strange. I used to enjoy it.
After this guy retracted the facebook message earlier this month, I kind of forgot about it. I called my friends today to see how they were doing (I didn't go to their get together this month, but they didn't have it this month-maybe this is why??) we were just talking about things in general, I vaguely brought up the topic of an ex, and then he lets me know that this guy (their friend) called like two days ago asking for my phone number. They didn't give it to him, but he wanted to let me know this happened. I had a feeling.
I could feel myself becoming very angry, saying, "no no no no no." My face was red-hot. And I said, 'what part of this doesn't he understand,' and 'I think we've been over this before." I was so exasperated, but really glad that they didn't give out the number. They remarked that he and the other guy are really over the top when it comes to me. They are. Then, my friend says, "well, there is going to come a day where people won't be hitting on you anymore, and you will wish they were." Ok, well what is that supposed to mean? Is this supposed to mean that if I don't just capitulate and go out with this dude that I am beginning to hate, that I will just be alone forever-that's it-just the two options? Completely alone or with this incredibly disgusting freak of a guy? I'm more afraid of being with someone like this. I told him that this didn't change my mind in the least. I mean like what are you trying to scare me or something?
I remember a long time ago, when I was really young, my dad putting a lot of pressure on me to date this completely revolting guy, in case no one else came around. Years later, this same man almost raped me. He later became known as a sexual predator in our community. I have no regrets about not being with this man, even 30 years later. I absolutely despise the man and he has lost status in the community due to his actions toward women in general.
I used to like and respect this guy as a friend, and now I think he's batsh*t crazy. He obviously knows that I don't want to talk to him, because he retracts his facebook messages, but he is still trying to get my number and call me just a couple of days ago??
My friends think that I'm not being clear enough, but agree that he is way over the top.
I'm baffled and I'm really at a loss for an explanation. I even remarked that if someone told me they didn't like me, I sure as hell would not still be pursuing it. I mean that would be IT for me.

It's going to get hotter here with Thursday being the hottest. It's noon and 75f feels more like 80 or more.I've been cleaning up the deck in this morning and cleaning the windows outside. Then I cut up a pallet in half, I've decided to call it quits now because I went a bit light headed. Joanne, some drugs we take have an effect on us in the heat, I know a couple of mine do, maybe yours...

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

If it were me, I would stay as far away from him as possible.
Good luck
And I am sorry, you are a victim here but you do have ways to be self protective and very wise about this dude.
"Then, my friend says, "well, there is going to come a day where people won't be hitting on you anymore, and you will wish they were."
As you already feel, this is very wrong. This is based on the insane premise that your value is determined by the amount of male attention you get, even creepy, scary attention. I'm glad your friends don't give out your number, but I think you should either call them out on saying this, or stop relying on them to help in this situation. You can block those guys on social media. You do not have to respond nicely, or at all, to any type of communication. You will never ever want or need this type of attention from anyone.
