Codependency Support Group
Codependency is defined as someone who exhibits too much, and often inappropriate, caring for another person's struggles. A codependent person may try to change, or feel shame about their most private thoughts and feelings if they conflict with the other person's struggles. If you are on a journey towards self-love, this support group is for you. Join us and find others...
Unfortunately, I had a toxic relationship with my daughter who was quite manipulative
(not accepting no) and became very aggressive with me. I was on egg shells and making myself sick. I didn't give in but she never backed down. I held on four years, but it hit a point that I had to let go. No mother wants to do that... Ever.
Letting go can allow for healing.... for both of you. It's the hardest thing I've ever had to do. But it gives me hope for a better future.
Sometimes it takes hitting bottom before they can pick themselves up. While wanting to save him from that, you may be keeping him from the very thing he's needing to experience.
You will need to be ready for a healthier relationship with him. Take that time to work on you. And let him have time to work on him (even if it's years).
It is okay to let go. And to grieve. And to hope for a healthier son. And to trust.
Stand strong. You are a good, loving mother. He will acknowledge that with time.
God bless.
