Codependency Support Group
Codependency is defined as someone who exhibits too much, and often inappropriate, caring for another person's struggles. A codependent person may try to change, or feel shame about their most private thoughts and feelings if they conflict with the other person's struggles. But I have to say I have really been helped with these feelings by going to psychotherapy and building a new network of recovery friends.
I realise I wasnt connecting to my friends and family like I wanted and needed to, or indeed connecting with my own true feelings. Therapy uncovered the reasons why and Im now beginning to enjoy my own company, and have learned how to reach out when I feel so lonely.
I wrote this exact same thing in my personal journal about a month back. How can you feel lonely when someone is lying right next to you. I though it was because of my husband and his addiction. I guess it is because of my co-denpendence.
I live alone so that doesn't help. When I start feeling that way, I call my close friends and sometimes that helps and sometimes it doesn't. About 50/50.
When I'm feeling that way, it make it seem like other things around me don't matter. I don't enjoy other activities since I'm lonely.
