Codependency Support Group
Codependency is defined as someone who exhibits too much, and often inappropriate, caring for another person's struggles. A codependent person may try to change, or feel shame about their most private thoughts and feelings if they conflict with the other person's struggles. If you are on a journey towards self-love, this support group is for you. Join us and find others...

I have a friend who is a user. I realized this when she suddenly became best friends with a third friend. I saw how my friend was using this other woman. Since I stopped being a giver to this user, she allowed our friendship to die. She also did weird things like telling a group of 6 women we were all meeting her for lunch - but none of us knew the others were coming. None of us would have been upset if we had know so why she kept it secret was weird. The rest of us arrived about 15 minutes before my friend and we all said this is weird.
Some people are just who they are. I decided my friendship with this friend would become one of acquaintance and only when she initiated. So she texted me recently and she's been very ill. Won't share full details. She is also very secretive about everything in her life. Like she's moved but she won't give information where she moved to or who she is living with. I can't care any longer.
Like you said, I don't enjoy my friend nearly as much as I did long ago. We do get to chose to be our own best friends and no longer play the game of chasing others to love us or like us more. Every human has limitations, we do and they do. Accepting others for their limitations is freeing. Once we stop doing this, once we start to value ourselves, it becomes clear who people are and what they are.
I love reading your posts. Thank you for sharing. I get a lot out of what you write and the responses others make.
