I'm in a similar situation... learning again, at the tender age of 52, that men are not Prince Charming sent to rescue me from myself. And that I can still pursue my own dreams...
Here's to new ways of living our lives... blessed be!
I think my coD issues started when I was raped when I was 7, by a very old man, or so he seemed at the time. But I never told anyone, this is also at the root of it - why did I feel I couldn't tell?!
So we are ever evolving and learning - THIS IS GOOD!
I feel sad for the lost years of pain and anguish but hopeful for the future now I know it is in my own hands.
My codependency also results from sexual abuse at an early age. I also didn't tell anyone...I have even yet to tell my therapist! It's hard to explain why we feel we can't talk about those events...I think a part of me felt like I would get in trouble or that it was just as much my fault as it was his?
So glad to have you here!
Especially my Dad.
Or have a fuss made.
Good to know you daisy!!! x
