Codependency Support Group
Codependency is defined as someone who exhibits too much, and often inappropriate, caring for another person's struggles. A codependent person may try to change, or feel shame about their most private thoughts and feelings if they conflict with the other person's struggles. If you are on a journey towards self-love, this support group is for you. Join us and find others...
Your friend will probably find someone else who she'll lean on & will somehow (sarcasm!) make it on her own. As for you, kudos for taking the initiative & choosing what's right for you. :)
Once you really really learn in your heart that no matter what you try to do, other people will fix themselves on their time (if at all), it's a freeing revelation. Now all you have to worry about, concentrate on, and make better is YOU! And this applies to absolutely anyone in our life who drains our soul, even very close family members. They know what their doing...don't believe otherwise.
You're on the right road. Keep on keeping on!
hugs
I know well what it's like to be around someone who talks about suicide. I even know what it's like to feel overwhelmed by demands and unappreciation from those in that thought process. From nearly having my life snuffed out by someone claiming to be "suicidal" unfortunately I stay far away from anyone like that. Having been a suicidal teen,I personally never used my depression and suicidal feelings to pressure others to do things for me. I feel from my own experience, that people who are truly suicidal for the most part, would keep that deep dark secret to themselves. Having met and almost been killed by someone using "suicide" as a way to keep my mother trapped in a relationship with them, I am sickened by people who use it as a ploy to force others to stay around them.
Friendship isn't a one way thing. You're a strong woman for standing up for yourself. That's the first step in determining your boundaries. Second is telling friends like that to take a hike. No bother in trying to explain yourself, you have justifiable reasons to walk,no run away from a toxic person as you've described!
Hugs,
Mentally, you know what you need to do.
Please stay strong and carry through. Say it outloud. (Tell someone, even it is your mom) You will be so much better off.
Good Luck.
