Codependency Support Group
Codependency is defined as someone who exhibits too much, and often inappropriate, caring for another person's struggles. A codependent person may try to change, or feel shame about their most private thoughts and feelings if they conflict with the other person's struggles. If you are on a journey towards self-love, this support group is for you. Join us and find others...
Expecting Loyalty is too Much to ask, I'm told....
My partner and I have been the lucky recipients of some SEVERE defamation, libel, slander, cyber-bullying as well as in person harassment here in our mobile home park for the last 3 months. Some of these allegations are pretty serious, like improper touching a woman, coping resident's files with social security numbers and a number of other things that we can prove are categorically false, through eye-witnesses, emails, texts, etc.
My mother is Codependent, and a fundamentalist Christian. I have been out of that and healing from it for the last 14 years, both the codependency and the religious trauma. My partner and I brought my parents to live next door to us to save them from subsidized senior housing a few years ago. I thought our relationship had healed moreso that it truly had and I've found out the hard way that is not the case.
Anyway, one of those non-stop harrassing us is the neighbor across the street, we'll call him Ed. Ed had approached my mother at the mailbox shed with his petition of egregious things he is claiming I and my partner have done. She told him that would not sign, that she does not know what's going on, and then my partner Kevin, has been good to her.
There is another woman in our park, we'll call her Mindi, who goes to my mother's church, and yet is very involved in the taunting against us. I saw her stop and talk to my mother at a recent board meeting and my mother was so pleasant to her, knowing who she is and what she's doing to her daughter. I asked her to please not speak to her, knowing what she is doing to us. I understand that I cannot control what someone else does and who they talk to, but if it were me, I would not pretend to be on good terms with someone who is destroying my child. There would be a hard line drawn in the sand. My mother, the peace-keeper cannot stand to draw boundaries around anything or anyone. She's enabled my father's abusive behavior my whole life. Why expect a change now?
I've been extremely distraught lately over my almost entire community turned against me without even hearing our side yet. We did just get a lawyer and a meeting is set with the community to discuss voting Kevin off the board on the 19th, as well as voting us out of membership of the park.
Yesterday I had a near breakdown. My mother asked if I'd like her to come with me to the doctor's and I said sure. While there she tried to take over the conversation with small talk at least twice with the nurses and I had to remind her that this was my time here with them. We got to the part about Ed asking her to sign and she elaborated on her response. She said that "Well I wasn't there so I can't say what happened." !!!! I lost my shit. Mom! Do you really think I am capable of copying ppl's personal files and stealing social security numbers?! Do you SERIOUSLY think Kevin is capable of improperly touching a woman?!?!? The man who bought this house for you and looks after you every day?? She looked at me horrified, like *I* was the villain because I was so beside myself that she would not stand up for her daughter and tell Ed that she knows those accusations are lies and that I would never ever do such a thing. She asked me what more she could do for me, and I told her, "Next time, tell him you know those are lies."
Her words to me were that "sometimes I ask too much."
I am hearbroken and devastated.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
It sounds like you want your mom to help you fight this battle and she feels like that is too great of a burden for you to ask of her. Maybe she doubts Kevin or knows something she has not told you OR, she lives there and just wants to be friends with everyone. She is in a hard spot and so are you. Hugs to you, best wishes to you.
