There is this man that I know who seems a bit overly obsessed with me. I see him at get togethers. When I ran into him again this weekend and saw him again, I was nearing the end of the evening and had gotten up to leave, had my purse, and he said in a very commanding manner, "Sit down!"
I chose not to respond or say anything, I just left. The reason being that I think with controlling people, if they can upset, throw you off or get you to respond in some way, you've now taken the bait. I don't even find this frightening or intimidating, maybe I did at one point. I decided to just observe and not respond.
I don't know what people are thinking when they act like this. Is this supposed to be endearing? Doesn't seem so. It comes off as crazy and screwed up. Sometimes I wonder how people think this type of behavior is attractive, though I suppose if you are very codependent that you would fall for this garbage. To me it's a sign of someone who is testing how compliant you would be, not an attractive quality at all.

I agree with @Bob above, to not even think about why or how or when or what this guy acted. That is on him. Has nothing to do with you. I have a feeling he acts this way toward other people, as well.
