Codependency Support Group
Codependency is defined as someone who exhibits too much, and often inappropriate, caring for another person's struggles. A codependent person may try to change, or feel shame about their most private thoughts and feelings if they conflict with the other person's struggles. If you are on a journey towards self-love, this support group is for you. Join us and find others...

I don't think we are crazy, I think it's old patterns trying to creep back in. I feel that if we detached obviously we had a good reason for doing so and we should probably try to stick with it until we are strong enough to get back into those relationships.....if at all. Just my opinion!
I have learned that it is best not to have her as a close friend. She is a FaceBook Friend and that's all.

Detachment is not easy. I have done that with two siblings, and I miss them. I think it is normal to miss people that we care about. But, I remind myself that I am doing this for my peace of mind. In my relationship, it was all about them, and I was the cheerleader/support/listener. The last few years of my life have encompassed some huge life changes, none of which were things that I wanted to happen (such as my husband died unexpectedly).
It has been a really tough time for me, but these two expect life to go on as it was for all. I am not the same person, and I really needed emotional support, which I did not get from them. I was very angry about their lack of sensitivity and other behaviors. When I stepped back and away, I was astonished to really understand how their behavior toward me has not changed at all. I just did not realize how toxic it was for me.
I miss the more frequent contact because I spoke to them often. Now, it is only at family events. I care, but not enough to go back. I have a much happier state of mind, even though I am still dealing with the same circumstances. I am not always "on" either, but honestly, as much as I love them, I cannot go back to that. As I said in another post, I want to be the leading lady in my own life from now on. :-)
Hugs,
Shar
