Codependency Support Group
Codependency is defined as someone who exhibits too much, and often inappropriate, caring for another person's struggles. A codependent person may try to change, or feel shame about their most private thoughts and feelings if they conflict with the other person's struggles. If you are on a journey towards self-love, this support group is for you. Join us and find others...
It helped me to go to CoDA meetings, where I could take my awareness, move into acceptance of myself (all of me, not just the things I disliked or just the things I liked about me) and then take the action I needed to heal. That action included meetings, getting a sponsor, working my Steps with her, doing service and doing things differently. Self-esteem comes from doing esteemable things.
Maintaining healthy relationships is a goal many of us have; but most of us are not willing to give up the things that stand in our way. A highly functional addict, is still an addict. And it doesn't matter if the addiction is to substances or to dysfunctional relationships. Both of them kill us ultimately. Physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Grace is right - awareness is s great first step.
