Codependency Support Group
Codependency is defined as someone who exhibits too much, and often inappropriate, caring for another person's struggles. A codependent person may try to change, or feel shame about their most private thoughts and feelings if they conflict with the other person's struggles. If you are on a journey towards self-love, this support group is for you. Join us and find others...

Part of this codependent journey for me is questioning what type of involvement I want in most things.
Today, I felt it was in the best interest of many to report a wreckless driver. Typically, if someone speeds by us while we are driving, I mutter under my breath and watch them disappear into the horizon. Today's speeder was swerving everywhere, and chose to turn around and continue drag racing down the highway multiple times. Was I worried for us? Not so much. However, the thought of this happening in front of a semi did worry me.
I had 3 calls with an officer, who was not in the area but did his best to stay updated. In the end, the driver was let go with a warning. Nothing against the cop. I don't have a dash cam, and the driver wasn't drinking. The remainder of our trip home, I prayed that he chose to drive safe. Too many people believe they are invincible.
I don't characterize myself as a busy body. But I admit that there was a tinge of disappointment at the end of this. My two younger teens were in the back seat, and we spoke about the incident.
I could feel my body questioning what control I have. So when we got home, I cleaned. I breathed. I reminded myself that I did the best I could in that situation, from a place of concern.
At the same time, it certainly wasn't my usual cup of tea.

You too know farewell that somber feeling when the sun went down on your wrath, and it left you in tears, and you mustered up the courage to become whole and complete again. And then again, the second time around, it came again, only this time a little stronger to withstand on your own, so pushed and pulled to rise above with loved ones/family.And so we did it again, three times a charm, but this...

Some things we don't talk about, we breathe them... Some things cannot be explained, but rather experienced. Some of the most healing moments arise when given the memory, acknowledging the love. One cannot go back in time; we move forward, and we carry the love we shared. No one but ourselves has the power to do so, or the permission to do so, but ourselves. So live life with your faith and...

No, we can't control other drivers but we are talking a safety issue here. I would say codependence would be more if you forced this guy to stop and pulled out your weapon and tried to make him drive properly by force. Which would not fix or change this driver or end up in a positive ending.
You did what you do have control over, call 911 and report it. I think you did "the right thing."
I also tend to doubt or second guess myself. When we do this, I think we have to remind ourselves not to use unhelpful thinking or stinking thinking.
