Codependency Support Group
Codependency is defined as someone who exhibits too much, and often inappropriate, caring for another person's struggles. A codependent person may try to change, or feel shame about their most private thoughts and feelings if they conflict with the other person's struggles. If you are on a journey towards self-love, this support group is for you. Join us and find others...
thanks
I suggest you go to six meetings and see if you hear/see yourself in what is shared. if it fits, its your program.
And good for you loveforme and I love your profile name! x
I feel sure you will do the same! You are worth the effort!!!
If nothing changes, nothing changes. I have decided to not answer the phone for a few days. I am happy in my home, without the triggers of someone who evokes shameful feelings. It is o.k if I avoid this. It is o.k if I choose to do something for myself. I know it will take time to feel like I am getting somewhere, and there are those who will not like it that i am doing it. But, in the end we have one life to live. It is worth it to me to start mine today.
I really like attending different Al Anon meetings. They are all completely different in many ways. One has readings from "How Al Anon works" which are priceless. Another is a book study from "From Survival to Recovery" and some of the stories stir up so much old childhood stuff, it is amazing to have the support of a group to process it with.
And yes, even if alcoholism runs generations back in my family, I find that I am still affected.
Another Al Anon focuses on meditation and we share on step 11.
Then there are step studies.
It is good to go to more than one meeting, I find. There is much to benefit from.
