blood pressure

is there any reason why someone with cihs shldnt fly.. I know sitting for long periods affects circulation.. but does it affect the blood pressure?
Planning on taking a mini vaca its not a long trip 31/2 hrs tops..

I believe flying is [only] contraindicated following a recent bleed or if there is thought to be an imminent danger of a bleed from varices.

I did have a lil vein burst about 21/2 months ago (on on my ankle burst) just starting spouting out of no where it happened twice in 3 days time
the 2nd time I went back to ER they put some sort of glue and bandaged it up I am now wearing support stockings 30 compression has not happened again.. but I am kinda nervous. I will ask my doctor on Thursday. but to be honest i have rcvd better info from this group than my doc has ever given to me.. thats why when I get back I'm looking for a new Doctor.. I have to fly no other way around it (family Emrgcy) my mom needs me.. I can barely take care of myself but if it takes all I have she's my mom and she needs me so up up and away I go :0)

I will have you and your mother added to my prayer list at church. I do hope and pray that you have an easy time of it especially with your vein problem. Wear the compression hose as prescribed and while on any flight it is a good idea to get up and walk a little during the flight as often as you can (if the flight will be more than a short one). Also, flexing the legs/ankles is always a good idea to keep the blood proper flowing and from pooling in the lower part of the leg/foot.

Varicees will bleed (in the esophagus and down into the stomach and can be of imminent danger so as long as there is no concern for varicees then you won't have that to worry about. That would have to be cleared by your doctor for sure as those things can burst and cause you to bleed to death in short order. I had 4 of them banded yesterday at Cleveland Clinic and will go back in a month to have it checked to be sure the banding was successful.


I think that it is very wise and Christ-like when one chooses to go the extra to take care of ailing and aging parents. I would give anything in this world to have my Mom or my Dad back just for a minute to tell them one last time how much I love them. Someday........I will see them again in Heaven and that will be a blessed day for me...........Hugs and prayers and keep us up oh how things are going............CarolLentz
