once again I'm curious, it's my understanding that the normal range of platelet count runs from 150 - 450 ... what do you guys think about a Low count of 111 and has anyone here had lower than this, if so how does it affect you... thanks...
By coincidence, my last blood test a few months ago also had me at 111 for platelets. That's pretty standard for me since I got ill.
The only thing I've ever noticed is fatigue and I'm much more sensitive to cold temperatures than I used to be, but those could be just general side effects of liver disease.
They always stand out on the lab reports because it's not within the normal range, but my doctors have never been concerned with it, said it's pretty standard for liver patients
Don't know what my lowest count was, but I know it has always been triple digits, so at least 100 anyway.
I also have low platelets -stayed at about 100 for a few years now go from 50 to 70 even down to 39.(while hospitalized)
I have trouble with gums bleeding and nose and i am very careful not to get cut etc.
I think when your down under 50 is getting to a real dangerous zone.
I was in the 70s but four dentists refused to pull a toothe for me and when i found one,... i did bleed for about 8 hours
I had platelet transfusions even after and endoscopy my son donates them for me but they are only good for 5 days where blood is good for like two months.
I have heard that the spleen sequesters them and throws a lot of blood work values off--------all my counts are low
