Ago I was in Hospital with peritonitis. and not expected to live
I did recover after 2 weeks of antibiotics.
I had an ultrasound scan today with good results and spoke to the hematologist who had been monitoring my condition for the past 8 years
I have not had any alcohol since coming out of hospital 8 years ago
today he said I was extremely lucky to have survived .
When I asked why i survived against the odds, He said my liver was shot to bit but there was the smallest amount still able to function
this was just barley enough to keep me alive
Over the next year of no alcohol a good diet and lifestyle my liver was able to regenerate.
I just thought I would post this for anyone who thinks its too late to stop Drinking
But given a chance the liver can regenerate from a great deal of damage. but you must stop before its completely written off!

Thanks for the encouraging words on this site, this is not a death sentence. Its a sentence to live life to the fullest. The Universe is perfect and things will happen just as they will and something good will always come of it. Pax everyone
Spiranolactone is a diuretic that also effects your hormones, and after several years, sometimes even sooner, men begin to suffer from gynecomastia (breast growth). I've read the drug is even given to men undergoing a sex change, as it helps feminize them.
Needless to say, I wasn't thrilled and stopped immediately, luckily the process had just started and cleared up in a few months.
That is why I'm now on Amiloride. Same diuretic effects, but without the hormone issues.
