Hi.....My MELD score was 10 in February and I am currently waiting to visit Cleve.Cl. later in Sept. to see if the testing shows any change. I have had 3 paracenthesis (fluid withdrawal from abdomen due to ascites) and currently have quite a bit accumulated again but the swelling in my legs is the most troublesome this time. I take furosomide (Lasix) 160 mg. per day and Aldactone 200 mg per day but still have fluid retention issues. The most important thing to do is watch the salt intake. EVERYTHING has sodium in it (or seems to) that is "prepared" in any way so you have to count those sodium mg. the same as what you might add to your own food. Also, ask the doctor if he/she wants you to limit comsumption of liquids during the day to see if that helps with the swelling. My legs swell at all hours both morning and night but I have an added problem of dystrophy which can cause it as well so the doctor is not too terribly concerned. He did tell me that if the swelling happens in the upper thigh area, to contact him right away and perhaps would have a visit to the ER. With even low MELD scores your liver is changing due to the disease so keep your testing up to date. Hope this helps. Hugs and prayers.......CarolLentz

hi caroilentz i have gainded 44LBS in15months doc says that the fluid is in my tissue's just raised my meds 120 lasix 300 aldactone they say paracenthesis wont get rid of this. i am on sodium restricion and fluid restriction dont now what is next
