Having delt with migranes I know from personal experience how debititating they are. There was a long stretch of time I suffered with them. My only help at the time was 1, 500 mg. vicoden a day.What a joke! Honest to goodness, I know how angry you are feeling. If a person doesn't suffer the pain, from a personal experience,they just do not know what you're going thru. My heart goes out to you. Just wish there was something I could tell you other than "I understand".

Enigma I know what you are talking about. My daughter has been suffering with horrible migraines for the past few months. Of course the doctors know that it can't be that bad and the teachers don't understand and I'll admit there are times that my husband and I doubt what she is saying.

Her neurologist sent her off with some imitrex and tramadol and said "see ya in 4 months". It seems like all I have done for the past three months is go to doctors and feed her pills. And if I left it to them she would still be curled up in bed moaning in pain.

Glad you are getting some relief. Have they ever figured out why you are getting the migraines? It took some experimenting but we discovered that my daughters are brought on by neck spasms and some muscle relaxants and pt is helping.

I am glad that you at least got the Percocet. I am however frustrated that you are still in pain. Wish they were doing more for you. You are in my thoughts & prayers. Hugs, Cathy

Angela, my heart goes out to you. I hate it that you're suffering so much and can't find help. I will keep sending you my prayers and keep hoping you find relief and I agree... work is for the birds when pain is so overpowering.

Angela I am so proud of you for standing up against that doctor. You obviously did the right thing, because you came away with some meds, even if it's only enough to take the edge off. You should absolutely NOT have to keep dealing with pain that is so extreme that death seems preferable!! That is not living... and you deserve some quality of life, as we all do. I continue to hope that the botox will help, as I'm sure we all do here... but in the meantime I'm so relieved that you have something on hand that will help you bring the pain down to a more bearable level.

Angela I'm so sorry your having to deal with those damn headaches. Have they figured out why they are happening yet? I understand the suicidal thoughts I have them all the time but I'd never do it. I can't hurt my grandaughter that way. She needs me even if I'm hurting. I'm praying for you girl. Turn out all the lights take your pills and try to think of a happy place.

What about those Migraine studies I see all over the place and on TV did anyone ever try one of those to see what it proves. I get migraines but they are not frequent but when I do get them I cant get out of bed so I know how the pain is I could never deal with them on a weekly situation.

I wish doctors would find the reason instead of just treating them or a combination of both as they can really affect someones life.

You probably have, but have you tried alleve? No it's not good to take a lot of it because they will eat the lining of your stomach, but if your desperate.....

I couldn't afford Imetrex(sp?) with no insurance they are $101.00 per pill! So my dr. told me to take 3 alleve which is the same strength as 1 imetrex.

Maybe the dr. will call you back today!

I don't know all your history, so you may have already addressed this. I also get those "suicide migraines" and have had them last over a month. I even had to have surgery on my skull while having one, and nothing would control the post op pain. I definitely understand your frustration.

Have any of your docs tried the various migraine recovery meds? One I tried way back, I believe was Caffergot. That one didn't work, but I tried a few others before finding Maxalt which helped. After a few years, it stopped working, and they switched me to Relpax. There are many of them I couldn't try because they contain NSAIDS which I cannot use because of kidney damage.

Anyway, while the Percocet may help take the edge off the pain, if you have not already, it may be worthwhile to try one of the rescue meds as well.

i have miagranes very often,im on a drug called fioricet.....its a life saver!!....ask about it .....its a strong med but it knocks your headache right out,fast.....its made for migraines,whereas percocet is not..although that may help..best to you

Good for you Angela, you stood up for yourself. Heck sometimes you have to. Its like you pour you heart & soul out to some doctors & they just don't hear you.

I was in the hospital a couple times with severe migraines & in ER more then I care to remember. Ive said it before migraines scare the heck out of me. The pain is out of this world. I started to get stroke like symptoms the last few flares. Thanks be to god have not had an episode like that in yrs.

Point being I get it, you cannot function, its not possible.

Is there any new meds you have tried other then the ones listed in your profile?

There were a couple that did help me some but will have to do some thinking to remember the names.
The Imitrex only worked in the nasal spray oddly enough.
Maxalt helped some but would not dissolve the migraine. Which I was told is the key. Dissolving the headache & catching it before it becomes full blown.

In the beginning it was Midrin (sp?) which worked for a short time & Fioricet or Fironal (sp?) with Codiene sorry spelling awful today, mental block here.
Now I have a friend who still swears by Midrin.
There was another med that helped but will have to do some research to remember the name. Cant hurt to brain storm here & come up with some options.

I do feel for you & know how much these headaches can take over your entire life.
I'll try to figure out the name of that other med & get back with you, in the mean time I hope you get some relief.
