Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
And I want what you want for Christmas.
I found DS out of desperation and found Chronic Pain support group when I posted in another forum. Leeall, a regular...posted to me that this group was far more active instead of the DDD group.
I am so thankful to her as I have found the same thing...support, eduction, humor and positive energy. You get out of DS what you look for I think.
I hope you find it as wonderful as I have and welcome, welcome, welcome!
But like Pamela56, I'm new and looking to make some friends. I was a nurse in my old life, but I cannot work anymore but still stay up to date with my education as I can. I was hoping to eventually return to work but with all my medical problems (not just pain) all my doctors tell me I am disabled. I am only in my 30's, so to me that is just overwhelming as well.
But I will stop here, I am glad to have found this site and I am glad to find an ACTIVE pain support site. Most of them are so slow and this place looks really full of caring, positive people. Just what I need as it seems all my real life friends are bored coming to my place, since I can't go out and do things like I used to. Normal people just do NOT understand how pain can affect you in so many ways.
I look forward to meeting more people here.
** Nurseliberty...I here you about being in your 30s & feeling like your career is over. I used to be a teacher. I stopped teaching when I had my first child...the second one came 12 months later (oops!) & I was not planning on getting sick...But that is what happened. My youngest started 1st grade this year, which was the time my husband & I had determined I would go back to teaching. I feel like when my pain is in control, my meds make me "too dumb" or "forgetful" to teach now. Maybe someday. I feel blessed for being able to stay at home with my kids...but I am itching to get back to work:-)

And thank you to all that have shown me love, patience, understanding, and respect.
David.
Sending lots of it to everyone!
Everyone on here keeps me grounded.
Gives me so much of so many things I need.
Thank you everyone.
Always happy to see new people on here because I know that they will get the same things that I have gotten and that others get too.
Warm Blessings To All,
Toni
To anyone new here, this is a great place for support and to help others when we can.
nurseliberty, I totally understand how you feel as 11 1/2yrs ago I was 31 when I was injured causing RSD that has spread. Losing a career that you loved is something we must grieve over to get over and even then, we would all love to be able to work again.
I think you will be a great asset here as you also get support due to your career as a nurse.
I hate that anybody has to come here because we all are in so much pain and trials because of it but I too have found it to be the best site of great people who truly care, understand, and share with each other.
Look for the Journal I am about to write about my stupid Mother about this very subject!!
Love and Peace to all!!!
