Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

Then again, I may never have had fibro. A rheumatologist discovered that I had barely detectable levels of vitamin D. Once I treated that, the body aches, cramps, etc started to lessen dramatically. I recommend that you get your vitamin D levels tested or start taking a 2000 IU supplement with flax oil since it's fat soluble.
You don't need a referral to a pain management specialist, though some docs are much more comfortable seeing you if you get one from your primary care physician. It may take a few tries to get to the right person. Hopefully you will receive long-acting pain meds + short-acting pain meds for breakthrough pain + a muscle relaxer. I am taking Oramorph (12-hr morphine) + Norco (hydrocodone) + Mobic (anti-inflammatory) + Norflex (muscle relaxer). I am really happy with my program! Magnesium malate, available over the counter, also helps with muscle pain.
I also have a massage therapist and a chiropractor and I sit in a very hot jacuzzi tub, which is Heaven! Aerobic exercise, or at least walking, helps + yoga is excellent.
The first 2 pain docs didn't do much for me. You need to keep going until someone helps you. Persistence pays off as does being your own best advocate.
My advice would be to see your doc again ,and explain their not touching your intense discomfort ,and could he/she please prescribe something stronger that would?
Please don`t suffer ,there are alternatives..i now take morphine ,not how i wanted to be ,but it sure beats laying on the bed ,pulling clumps of my hair out ,and sobbing `cos the pains too much,,
Good luck ,let us know how you get on...take care ,make sure you totally rest (if poss) ,between shifts..can you not maybe apply for disability? If you`re lifting or doing heavy work ,its going to agravate your pain even more..
Sending you lots of love ,and gentle feel better hugs..always here if you feel like talking....sharon xoxoxo
