Ugh! I finally dragged myself to the doctor yesterday, my primary care doc whom I adore. I knew I had a sinus infection a week ago but I hate going to doctors so stupidly let it get worse. My doc was shocked at how bad I let it get. And sinus pain is not helped by the RSD meds I take, so I've been living on sudafed & motrin. But then the nausea started.
So here I am, a day later, feeling worse before I can get better. My doc doesn't believe in prescribing antibiotics unless it is necessary, and has prescribed them like twice since I knew him. But yesterday he told me the infection was very bad and I needed to get going on amoxicillan ASAP. I once had a dentist tell me after xrays that my sinus cavities were larger than any woman's he'd ever seen. Well, apparently, the infection has found every nook and cranny b/c my face, teeth and head feel like exploding.
Thank God my doc also prescribed an anti-nausea medication b/c just the smells of our regular house are making me ill. I made my hubby take a 2nd shower and gave the 2 year old a bath, just so I wouldn't upchuck when they come near me. And our poor dogs- I can't let them near me.
What surprised me is that this infection would be such a small thing in the real world, but add it to RSD which is pretty much controlled, and I feel like I should be hospitalized! I don't usually complain about illness b/c I always figure in comparison to RSD, it's nothing. But I truly feel like taking to my bed.
I'm overtired, irritable and don't feel like doing anything. I couldn't even play "cars and trucks" with my son b/c I can't move my head. I'm typing this while lying on a pillow on my chaise lounge chair, and another pillow in my lap for the laptop. Lights are on dim, just so I can see the keyboard, and my hubby took our son upstairs.
It's amazing that I put up with such a terrible disease with a fairly small amount of complaint. But this double sinus infection has me so defeated!
Anyone else go through this? I mean, it's amazing to me that such a small thing can take my mind from my RSD pain. But then again, that's being treated. I just really feel crappy. And praying for it to go away!

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
I am so used to the chronic pain I guess but when I get a sinus headache I turn into a total wimp. lol

And yes RSD makes everything seem worse. I have 20 days till I leave for a long work trip and I'm praying to get this infection long gone. Only 1 person there (my boss) knows that I have RSD and she has really never understood it. I can't afford to lose my job b/c I can't do the side trips that everyone else can. Plus I LOVE that part of my job. At least I didn't have to fly during this sinus infection. My ears are stuffed and painful.
Almost time for the amoxicillan. Then I'll have upset tummy for a bit, then maybe some sleep. :)
this one does not work there are many others. If you don't get any better soon tell your doc. so he can change your meds. Take care. Hug
So translating what you're saying into English, you saying it's hard for the antibiotics to get to the sinuses because they lack blood vessels and thus the antibiotics can't reach them. If so, would heat help at all (to expand any nearby blood vessels and get the antibiotics closer to the sinuses)? Or would heat simply increase the edema (swelling)?

I have found nothing that works. I do not know if it is the TMJ that is causing them or sinus because my ears hurt as well.
I do not generally get infections just the headaches and ear pain. I do not want to take anything else for pain to help this. Any other ideas?

I HATE taking antibiotics so am doubly hoping it works! This infection is bad. Between getting nauseous from the drainage and fighting the pressure, I'm taking all these extra meds. My stomach is aching, too.
Guess it's time to put away the laptop and SLEEP!
