Cherry I do understand and hope that you will be OK.
Before you do this, before anyone does this it would pay to go to one of the drug interaction sites on the net and check that they are not going to give you problems.
Pain is bad but the possible consequences of mixing some drugs can be deadly.
Please let us know that things are OK and go to the ER if you feel bad with the info about what you took.

I talked to a pharmacy tech Thursday so I know I'm ok to take both. The new drug is the lowest dose and the old one is the highest. I can't figure out how my doctor thought that switch would work!!!

I've just pushed myself way too much the last two days and I'm wrecked. I'm hurting in ways I didn't know were possibe.

I'm so sorry your pain has flared-up. Learning what our limits are is not easy when we want to be normal and do things just like everyone else. In switching meds it is correct and appropriate procedure that your doctor would start you on the minimum dose of the new drug and slowly increase it until you reach an effective dose. They can't just put you straight onto a high dose without knowing how your body will react... and everyone is different. I hope your flare-up settles quickly... if not phone your doctor's office and let them know you are not coping.

I guess because it's a drug in the same 'family' I assumed she was going to prescribe something a bit more therapeutic. It seems to have dragged on and gotten steadily worse for so long...just want to function.

I have to be able to work. It's just me and my critters here.

i have done that before, had a little extra to help me through helping a friend and next day i pay for it,
rest up and learn my limits, never again.

Oh man...do I ever feel it this morning. I thought it was a workday when I opened my eyes this morning and had a moment of panic before I realized it was Sunday.

My right hand is swollen and everything hurts. I'll pace myself today and not do too much.

I am sorry for all your pain, and I hope that you and your Doctor, can come with the right combination to make you fel better.

Some of us have to learn to say "no". That word's not in my vocabulary, yet, LOL...and I pay for it. I know EXACTLY what you're going through.

Being a nurse I have an idea what I can mix, and what I can't...sometimes knowledge can be dangerous.

At this time I only have oxycodone, and a limited amount. Even when they ask me, "What's your pain level now?" and I say a 10+...I get enough for 30 days. I've made the mistake of taking 2 (they're 5mg tabs, and I've had 10mg tabs rx'd before) pills, then run out before time; the doctor won't prescribe more until the month's supply date is here.

All we're asking for is a better quality of life, and they just don't understand it. But if they were to be going through what we are, be sure they'd be having their buddy doctors righting them scripts for enough pain meds...and a little extra!

Sometimes, it sucks to be us :(

My doc makes me go for an appt. ever 4 weeks to get a refill and a check up. If I, or sometimes they, have to change the appt. day, they won't fax a refill for me. They insist it has to be picked up...and it's not exactly around the corner!

I'm having a terrible day, but fgred I could just do nothing and try to deal with it. Then my son called saying he desperately needs a haircut and this is the only day he's going to have off.

The reason you have to pick it up is, if it's a narcotic, they want to be sure YOU get it...not someone else. That happens to me also, and my pharmacy is 33 mi away.

One time they agreed to let my parents pick up the written script as long as I sent a note!

Yes, that's what I do...my son works right across from the office...in the beginning they needed a note. Now they have it noted in my file, will be picked up by>>>>>and they have my son's name. If there's someone unfamiliar w/him, all he has to do is show his driver's license.
