Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
There are many negatives I could draw out...many echo other responses here and I agree, it is like a part of me has died. But, and I know its hard to see the positive, we have all gained things too, to appreciate things in life I would never have thought of if it wasnt for the chronic pain...the 'good' days...even if they are fewer and fewer, I enjoy these times when they do roll around, the support I have recieved from those close to me make me realise how much others care, the strength I never thought I would have had, but I draw out again and again to get through the bad times...the list goes on and Im sure its the same for most of you too.
Im scared for the future too as you have said...but even if we were able bodied, who knows, tomorrow we could get hit by a bus. Its possible, but not definite, and thats the way I try to look at chronic pain. It could, and is likely to be here to stay and get worse, but you never know, things may change, and no point losing sleep over it til its time.
I hope you are feeling better soon, even if not in pain terms, in yourself. We are all here to listen any time, and it makes me so sad to see so many people on here losing hope. I really do understand how hard it is, and there are days I see no light, but the light I see at the moment I want to share with everyone.
Take care of yourself,hugs xx
I haven't posted alot lately, but I read everyday, and I find comfort, a few tears and alot of laughs here. I hope you find those as well.
Hugs,
Theresa
Welcome, I have had CP for 25 years now and I can tell you it is just like the stages of life, it takes constant adjustment and reflection.
Having a support network like the CP group is so wonderful. It has made a huge difference in my life. So I am so glad you are here.
Yes, CP takes, pain is a thief, but the experience gives us insight that
normals never experience. You have already mentioned your new found understanding towards people in CP. For me, I used to be a type A personality and quite impatient. Now, due to a litte brain damage and CP I have learned to take life slower and live in the moment. There are many things are pain can teach us if we listen. Now I am not at all saying that pain is a good thing, I would like mine to end, but I have learned something from it.
I am glad that you are here! Hugs, Cathy
