Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
I hope it is a very very mild case!:-(
I forgot to add that I changed my mind about no joke...
Pre-adolescent joke..:-) :-)
Yes, the hardest thing is not to get discouraged but it's easier if you catch yourself sooner. Don't let it get to you.
Keeping my fingers crossed for you!
hugs,
Ama
Check into a disease called erythemia multiforme (sp?)
Some call it Steven Johnson's disease. Its in the shingles family but comes back more frequently. I have it and take an anti viral medication for it every day. It doesn't prevent the outbreak but they are way less frequent.
Hope that might help!
Xo MLC
You take an anti-viral ALL the time? I've been wondering if there wasn't something preventative I could be doing..since it recurs.
Can't remember who mentioned it before..but..lisine didn't stop it ( though I have heard of it working for some.
Oh well..at least I'm getting the new local compound.
I'll check out that other thing, Mustluv..
But..the Dr.s who've seen these rashes have said shingles. I'll go see if they look alike.
Hugs

I don't think mines that serious ( I looked) mine look like chicken pox..don't have the bulls-eye.
Wow..you have to worry about that ALL the time? I feel worse for you than me now. Hugs
PS....I liked your joke!
Are you on the max dose of acyclovir? You may need to up the dose or you may have to break down and get IV acyclovir.
I read up on shingles, and it can cause flu-like symptoms, weakness, and of course, pain.
Are you still on prednisone? Being immunosuppressed increases your chances of re-occurrence and worst complications.
Please, please take this seriously. I've seen herpetic encephalitis and it's not pretty.
I hate to see you feeling this badly and I'd hate it if you have to go to the hospital, but sometimes we have to do things we don't want to do and I just want to see you better.
And it was a cute joke.
Sandy
Stevens-Johnson Syndrome usually involves the sloughing off of skin in it's presentation. It is a much more serious skin condition than herpes zoster. But h.z. can have serious effects, so you do need to treat it seriously.
I'm not sure if taking anti-virals will help or not. You may want to ask your doctor about that.
Sandy
Of course it was on a Sunday so I drove myself to the ER. I was diagnosed with chicken pox LOL after 2 weeks no relief then a dermatologist DX me with shingles. Fast forward 6 months and I was getting this rash every other month. My RA doctor is amazing and wouldn't give up as he called BS on both DX. He did some research did a biopsy of the actual rash and it is erythmia multiforme (sp?) Sorry
Yes I take 800mg of accyclovir every day. The first sign of a "dot" I up that medication to 800mg five times a day.
Mine when I do have a breakout DO look like chicken pox. Do have it checked out!
Xo MLC.
Sorry :( cute joke though!!!
Mustlovecats,
I want your doc! Lol
Thanks, Sandy..I DO know how serious this can get...I don't think you were around at the beginning of the year when I got so really sick. I'll take it seriously, I promise, if it comes to that...'cause I won't really have a choice.
Yoga...for some reason..I really liked that joke as a kid. Now it cracks me up to tell it 'cause it's so goofy..:-) :-)
Please take care of yourself. I will say prayer that you find some relief soon.
