I'm glad you finally got some relief! Damn pain wakes me up during the night and every morning, I can't remember the last time I woke up and felt rested.

Heck ya it is!! I wrote a post about a month back here on this site about what a loser I felt like because I had to take Oxycodone everyday. This woman wrote me back and told me to never feel that way. We have to do what we have to do. Living in pain ll the time is not a a good ' quality of life". Maddy why won't your doc prescribe Oxycodone for you?

Doctor gives me 5 mg of oxy...doesn't work...not strong enough. He refuses to raise the miligrams.

Yes, Pain meds scare me to death because I have went through withdraws at least 2 or 3 times. Not fun at all. Thanks everyone.

You can take the "do what you have to do" attitude, whatever choice you decide to make you have to be prepared to stand by and accept the consequences of.

If your Dr. had called you in for a random Urine Drop drug screening today, you would have had too high a dose and too many meds in your system, and most likely you would have lost your Dr. He may not be giving you the amount of Narcotics that you want, but he is the one giving you Narcotics. Would it have been worth it?

That is all true OlderC. My doctor was concerned because I have depression. He asks me if I was suicidal. I told him no.. I should have told him only when I am in pain all the time. Yes, I do think about death as a relief. Doctor won't be calling me in for a random drug test...He is over an hour away.

Have you considered seeing a Psychiatrist or Therapist? I can tell you from experience they do help a great deal. There are coping skills and different ways you can learn to distance yourself from the pain at times, and ways to deal with it when its at its worse. Sorry I've not been around much, the RA's acting up and I'm having trouble typing. Seeking out a Therapist or Counselor is not a sign of weakness or proof that you have a mental illness. Sometimes it takes that extra medical support to help us learn to get through each day with the pain and illnesses we deal with.

It might be worth your time to check somebody out.

I have gone to Phyc and counselors my whole life. Haven't been in the past 2 years. I have never had great help with them. And usually after a while they tell me that I am doing well and don't need to come back to counseling.

I will keep it in mind though if I decide to do something else. TY D

You need to get a new Primary . go t the new Primary and tell him or her how much pain you're in. Thats what I had to do a while back. Then after a while the new Primary found me a new Pain Management Doctor. 5mg ??? Do you mind me asking why you are in pain?
A lot of people are afraid to switch doctors . if you're not getting the right dosage of pain meds then that's exactly what you need to do. You can look up Primary Doctors in your area that prescribe Oxycodone and other arctic Pain relievers.

You don't have to swith Primary Care Dr.'s to find a new Pain Management Dr., you just go on your Insurance Web Page and search for Pain Management Dr.'s and when you see one you'd like to check out, ask your Primary to refer if you need a referral, if you don't just call and make an appt.

Need to remember Primary Care Dr.'s are very limited due to the new laws as to what kind of Narcotics and how much they can prescribe and for how long. Pain Management Dr.'s are a person's best chance at getting long term care with narcotic medications if that's what is needed.

catskyn I am in pain due to Lumbar and Cervical Disc Degeneration, cervical spondylosis, Facet Syndrome, Sacrollitis, Myofacial pain syndrome and arthritis.

akacountrygirl: I'm not sure what State your in, but have you ever considered going to a Spine and Back Clinic? They tend to have the most cutting edge equipment/treatment to treat the many types of back issues you have and if surgery is required its usually very non-invasive, outpatient surgery. Might be worth it to check it out.

No Sly I haven't but it is legal here in MD now. They are still deciding who will get the grow license and have a dispensary spot here in town. I want to try the oil...don't care for a pot buzz but I hear you can get the kind that just relieves the pain.
