Ultram is one of the mildest forms of prescription pain meds out there. It's supposed to be easy on the tummy. I tried it for a bit but was then put on another medication (for a different medical issue) and this medication has a lot of drug interactions (doesn't mix well with others). My husband also suffered severe migraines from a single dose so if you have a history of migraines- a word of caution. I was very scared to switch from the vicodin to the oxy but now I am glad I did, the vicodin had lots of side effects (depression, anxiety, etc). I now get a pretty steady dose- it doesn't take it all away but it does take the edge off. xoxoLyn

I took ultram for a while but had to stop as the side effects were intolerable, I suffered with extreme confusion & dizziness. I know for some it works well though, which was why i was willing to give it a try.

Ultram has recently been used as a way to get patients who are on Narcotics off and into a new way of pain releif. I spoke with my pharmasist about it and he said that it has not yet been proven in the states or canada..it is primarily used in sweden - the origin of most medications. My insurance wouldn't cover it due to that reason. He also said that seizures are prominant and it is also known for it's drug incompatability.
If you are taking an antidepressant i would suggest that you talk to either your doc or pharmasist about the possible complications.

I take Ultram and I find it pretty effective. I also have Vicodin and Soma. Ultram doesn't last as long as Vicodin but it doesn't make me feel as goofy so I can take it when I am in pain at work. I have read some articles that it helps with depression. I would say it does help me but I don't take it on a regular basis so it is not steady relief.

I have not ever taken it at the same time as vicodin so I don't know how they interact. I am always so afraid to mix meds. I do know that Ultram reacts to one med I was taking at one time, I think it was Cymbalta. So I would just check with your pharmacist.

When i took Ultram I had 2 seizures from it. Pls be careful as seizures is one of the side effects, especially if your Dr. has rx's several a day.

I really would not into it, I am having the worst problem with it now, please read my post. I would rather stick with Hydrocodone, low dosages in my opinion

I took Ultram and threw up for 2 days straight with a massive headache. I was rx the 200mg ER. for some though it can be good, and does not have the side affects for most as vicodin, but nausea and lack of pain control is a big issue for others also from what I have read. best of luck to you

I initially tried Ultram, but didn't get much relief. I am now on Flexeril and Piroxicam. The match, along with some other meds has been helpful.

The only complaint I have about Flexeril is that it makes your mouth BONE dry.

However, I had a bad stomach flu recently..still at the tail end/ I have been unable to take any of my medications for over a week. OUCH, am I feeling that!

I had to cancel my appt with the pain center, aws I was sick. And I haven't yet rescheduled. I have had a very busy month. And as usual, I am putting everyon else's problems before mine.

If it works for you, stick with it. From trying this and that etc, I have learned to tune into what works best for me. It's different sometimes for some.
