Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

Sunnybun told me a day at a time, and god knows that's true..
But when days turn into decades...I just can't see myself getting there.
I thought I was a strong woman in anot:-) her life.
I don't even know what I'm asking.

I burned too much midnight oil.
I don't know how old you are jan but it's not possible for me to be Polly Sunshine all the time. Sometimes, it just plain sucks to be me!
Ha Ha. You're husband sounds like a good sport. I think you come across much more as a positive person than not. God willin', your flare will subside soon. Give yourself a hug for me.
I think if you don't take it out unfairly on your loved ones, then you can get the support you need. No one can expect 100% support, but all you need is just a few who understand. In my 30 years, I never stopped feeling guilty about being the cause of attention so I would try to hide it and my disease would humble me. But ultimately, you can't help who you are or what you have to deal with, and don't underestimate the love that people have for you. If you doubt it, ask them for understanding.
How does a person do it year after year? Peace is in acceptance. You give it over to a higher power, over and over and over again. And when you struggle, you give it over again. You have no choice, but you get better at it.
But today, you can lean on DS or whomever.
Gentle hugs to you.

It is now going on five years for me and while it does get worse before it gets better I think I am sort of dealing with it better also as time goes on. I learned that you got to have a reason to wake up in the morning and not just hubby and kids but something for yourself for me it is my animals and my crafts.
We gotta to find things to distract us when we get in those slums so they do not absorb us.
I hope the flare is short lived and you will be back to your good ole self in no time.
down that road lies madness.
especially in a flare.....survive the moment.
save these thoughts for when your out of the thrasher a little.
and you will be.
not all...but enough to contemplate the future a little.
but right now buddy.this has saved my life.....right now just.......survive.........the moment.
then after that just.....survive .....the moment.
this will back off you..........some and sometime.
but right now you are hurtin yourself
knockitoff.
iloveya buddy............get off here and go survive.
PEACE......................t
First let me say that I am sorry to hear that you are struggling so. Please know that you certainly are not alone. Your friends here at DS are here to listen and support you. That is the wonderful thing about this group is that we don't have to do it alone.
I echo the other members and say living in the moment is the the key. I've been dealing with my MS for over 25 years now and that is the main thing I have learned. Every single day I focus on the day at hand, I never look backwards or forwards. I live in the moment. I enjoy the moment. That is how I survive. Sometimes my quality of life is not great, but by living in the moment I can wade through those times. My life is not a fairy tale, but I manage to remain positive by being selective where I focus my attention and by using selective denial as well. These techniques work well for me. I learned how to do this years ago and now it seems like second nature so it is difficult for me to explain. What really helped me learn how to stay in the moment was learning how to meditate. It took practice, but now I can do it naturally. I even used meditation after surgery once when a night nurse messed up ny pain med order and I got nothing for pain. I spent the entire night coping with meditation alone. The next morning I was thrilled to get the pain meds staightened out, but the meditation does work.
You are a sweet person and you are going to be fine, just remember you are not alone, but are in good company. Hugs, Cathy
After 20 years, I can say that you can survive. You may have to grieve for the old you and reinvent the new you in the process to find a measure of acceptance.
We all go thru hills and valleys. You just have to pick yourself up, dust off your butt, and move on.
