Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
When I go over the bumps going into the store, I can stand up. Store chairs won't run if you stand up. I guess they think we'll fall out.
It's not the chair that makes people mean...it's STUPID PEOPLE! I get nothing but courtesy when I'm in my chair. Sorry you had a run in with ignorant people.
I do not care at what people look at me if I am using the motorized cart, I don't care how people look at me when they see me using my cane, I earn this injury, this injury was cause to me, and it was not my darn fault! so if someone speaks to me rudely, I just look at them, and say; "thank you, who died and left you queen? (or King).
I don't know how long you have been disable, but at the beginning I was self concious, NOW, hell no! I am worth as much as they are, if not more! So they can look at me all they want when I get out of my car, in the disability area of the store, and think, "hmmm, she doesn't look sick enough to have a disable placard", I do not care! You need to start holding your head up, and remember that some people are asses, and that is going to happen weather you are on a scooter, a van, or a Maseratti, so mine as well, move on and go about your business, and wish them a nice day!
Hugs,
People can be cruel. Pain is invisible, so unless you walk around with gushing wounds it is hard for people to relate to us. No one, but you knows what goes on in your own body. And frankly it is exhausting having to explain it all of the time. The main thing is that you, we all need to develop some dragon hide and not let the comments get to us.
I once had a brother-in-law tell me, "Why don't you just go ahead and die already." He did not believe I had MS because his brother also had MS only it was progressive MS, not remitting MS. So he thought I was making up my problems. It really hurt at the time, but over the years this guy slowly came around. I will not say we are close, but we can hold down a nice conversation. In fact, he is an author and I really like his books.
The fact that we suffer is the pitts and it is difficult when others add to that suffering. But it is important to as I said learn to to let this stuff bounce off of you. If you take it on and stress about it only adds to your discomfort and depression. It does nothing to the other person. I'm glad you brought this up here it is a good topic. One that I think deserves some attention.
Take care everyone, Hugs, Cathy
People are just not paying attention to what the Lord has been trying to tell us. They talk the good talk, but when it comes right down to it, they are completely oblivious.
ill put a funny spin on this (and i hope no one finds it offensive..its meant in a light hearted fun way =) ):
when my pains bad i limp and walk very bizarrely, floppy arms, cramped legs etc u can imagine, so i often get funny looks and bizarre sympathy from people thinking im not all there. one night i was out with friends for a night out...and the pain flared up bad so i started my funny walk. i thought, 'bugger it im not going home' and started dancing in my weird state. my friends found this hilarious and copied me...we now call it the 'wob dance' haha...so when i look a bit 'special' my friends join in too and we just look like a bunch of nutters! always makes me feel better and smile...laughter is a good cure haha!
hope you know what i mean and dont take offence....hope your all well hugs xxx
But it was the only way I could get any groceries.
I usually just say a prayer that those people never have to know what it is like.
PEOPLE! LOL!
Really what is the world coming to?
Makes you wonder?! :-)
