I was about to say I had never taken it, but I have, didn't stay on it to long, my doctor change me to imatrax. I took it for headaches though. When Deb115 mentioned the migraines I remembered I took it a long time ago.

I was on the Topamax for several years in combination with Amitriptyline. I didn't experience any side effects with the Topamax. When I started the Topamax and Amitriptyline in combination it definitely helped to lower the frequency of the migraines. However, a couple years later I decided to see if the Topamax and the Amitriptyline had to work together to prevent the migraines or if the Amitriptyline could work alone. I stopped taking the Topamax and found that the Amitriptyline was able to limit the migraines without the Topamax. So, I don't know how effective Topamax is...

I'm on Topomax and I like it. It's reduced my migraines a lot. I did have some tingling in my hands when I first started and some ringing in my ears which went away. Now I have a little hair loss, which I thought was just because I'm in generally not great health, but someone here told me it could also be a side effect. But it's worth it to me.
