Thanks all- It worked from about 4:30pm to 9pm, when I was awoken by noise downstairs. My DH was letting my son run crazy when he should've been in bed. Needless to say, I was pissed.

I tried a warm bath, took my pain meds, and now that it's past 8 hours, I was able to take my muscle relaxer. I woke with an odd taste in my mouth after the lunesta but read that it's normal. But it DID help me sleep for a few hours. Just not enough. I ned 9-10 hours a day but get about 4-6 hours.

But, in 14 hours, my DF and son will be gone for the weekend. Only 2nd time since J was born that I get house to myself. Hoping that the Lunesta will work better with a quiet house!

PS- anyone else on Lunesta or has taken it- does it normally conk out halfway through the sleep cycle, or is that abnormal? And the funny taste I woke up with- is THAT normal? I've read a bit about it but know that the PPL here are so much more in tune with what's going on.

I know the noise woke me, but on Ambien I would've been able (the 1st year or so I took it) to go right back to sleep. I don't even know how long Lunesta stays in the system! I had to take a muscle relaxant and took one about 8 hours after the Lunesta. There's no way I can wait 8 hours again- my spasms are having spasms!

Also, I noticed that the samples she gave me are 3mg, but the prescription is for 2mg. I so wish it was Ambien- I'd know what to do in THAT case!

Yes on the weird taste..

I find it to be short acting...I take a half at a time twice one at bedtime and one at one of the times I wake up....
But then..my PM gives me room to maneuver with my meds..

You're right to be cautious using with muscle relaxer..

I'll talk to the PA. Maybe, since the scrip is for 2mg instead of 3mg, I can take the 2mg tab at bedtime and half of a tablet when I wake up at night? It would still be the original 3mg they started me on, but it would help me sleep THROUGH the night.

I don't know what else to do since it just doesn't seem to work for me. Ambien at least worked the 1st few weeks I took it, and from then on it worked sporadically, as needed. One 10mg tablet of ambien would knock me out for 12 hours at 1st. Those were the good old days.

I've read that Lunesta and Ambien are somewhat alike, and I know I've only taken one pill of Lunesta, so maybe it needs to build up in my system or something? I think someone mentioned that. But they can't expect me to take it every night, right? I can only take it on weekends or when out of town for work, IF not expected to wake up early.

The other med they offered was Restoril. I hadn't heard of it and they had samples of the Lunesta, so I went with that. Lunesta I've at least heard of. Restoril I have not. I wish I knew what my doc had against Ambien- now that I'm craving sleep so much I would love to be taking an Ambien tonight. At least I'd KNOW (as it has been a long time since I took one) that I'd get a good night's sleep.

Oh well, I guess I'm just beginning the Lunesta and I have 3 nights to see how it works. No one to wake me up- yay! I love my guys but am SO glad to be getting a weekend at home to myself. :)

Tonight I'll try to take the Lunesta a bit later. If it works, it works, I'll give it a weekend. Just wish it worked longer, ya know? That seems to be my problem with any sleep aids- they don't work past 4-5 hours. The other thing I liked about Ambien was that I didn't ever wake up sleepy or have a hangover type feeling. Lunesta gave me an odd taste, and also made me sleepy but not enough to sleep. Good thing I took it at 4pm yesterday- I'll have no troubles this morning. My son should be getting up soon.

6 hours till my weekend at home- just me and the dogs! :)

I experienced a bad taste in my mouth with the lunesta as well and found that it did not last the full 8 hours. I often had a difficult time with this medication because I would sleep soundly for 5-6 hours then- BING! wide awake and nothing got me back to sleep! Very frustrating if I woke at 4 and still had an hour and a half left to sleep but couldn't- made for a verrrry long day at work! I also found it to be expensive as there isn't a generic for it and it cost $25 for each script! I talked with the pharmacist and she suggested Ambien ER- I have had much better sleep with this medication- lasts longer and is not as expensive! Hope this helps! xoxoLyn
