Hi ~ I believe they come as low as 10mg, but I'm not positive. I know they USED to. As far as what people "like" ~ that's a loaded question! LOL. People have to "take" what their doctors GIVE them, basically. When I was on MS Contin, I was taking 160mg. per day, and I STILL was uncomfortable.

G'morning', I know that the oxycontins come in 10,20,30,40,80, and 100 strength, I'm not sure about the ms contin. A friend of mine was on 30 mgs of the ms contin and my doctor has given me a couple of the 20 mgs prior to an injection procedure. I'm sure if you look it up on web md it would give you all the info. I'm sorry, I have no experience with either, but Drugfacts.com is a great place to go for information. You can get the full prescribing information as well as patient commentary... I do know that with extended-release medications, most people still need to take a breakthrough medication, as needed, in between the times the medication is being released. Good luck!!! i just started the oxy 20 after a year on percs... these are ok. when taken as written

I take 70mg (one 30mg pill & one 40mg pill) of Oxycontin every 12 hours for my pain. I started out on 20mg twice a day about a year & a half ago. I also take 10mg of Vicodin for break~thru pain. The Oxycontin does not last 12 hrs, at least not for me, so the Vics help w/the pain until the next dose of Oxy. I don't get a high feeling from them anymore. I did at first. They do help w/the pain. A lot of insurance companies aren't filling Oxy prescriptions anymore because they no longer make generic. My doc wrote a letter of neccessity to my ins co cuz I had tried everything else. They approved it - surprisingly! 28 pills cost over $200 so they are paying over $800 a month for just my Oxy! I am very grateful for that. Oh & I just called the pharmacy - the Oxy come in 10, 20, 30, 40. 80mg. Like Lynr said. They don't come in 100mg & some shops still have 160mg in stock but they quit producing them. (This is according to my pharmacist)

i don't know what type of cronic pain you have, but instead of taking too many pills, talk to your doctor about the duragesic patch. it is a long lasting, time released drug that you only need to put on every 3 days. they start out at 25mg, and go up too 100mg. i have been on them for about 5 years now, and i only need to take pills for breakthrough pain. if you are anything like me and in costant pain, the duragesic patch is probably your best option and it will get you away from taking to many pills. the duragesic patch is a synthetic morphine called fentynal. the only downside to being on this patch, you cannot just stop taking it. if you do, you will get VERY sick and go through with-draws that are comparable to comming off of heroine (so i'm told). you also won't have to worry about that "high" feeling. after the first patch ot two, you won't feel anything accept less pain! i hope this info has helped you and i wish you nothing but luck in your ongoing effort to control your pain. peace&love, keith

In the UK you can get 5mg doses its a blue tablet, I am currently working my way off them, they do not help the pain as much as I hoped but are difficult to get off. I had worked up to 40mg morning and night and felt ill, now on 25mg morning and night, I do not want to be on them long term. Have come to terms with my lifetime condition, but want to cut the meds down.
