Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

I am at heart an artist, I am also a realist, I have found that through the pain and sleepless nights, I can be both....
I was young when I first discovered the magic line, literally just a child, My brother had discarded a piece of paper that he had accidentally ran his pen across and I picked it up and looked at it and asked him why he threw it away? He responded it was trash.
I didn't see trash, i saw a magic line......
If i took a pencil in my hand and turned the paper this way that magic line was the beginning of the trunk of a tree, if i turned it another it was a horizon line of a grand landscape, it was a magic line you see....
Of all my works of art i have created over the years and there have been many they all begin with a magic line, whether i know in advance what i want to create or not they all begin with the one line, and from there I do not know where they go, not until they come to an end.
When I see that magic line I see infinite possibilities I see worlds yet undiscovered, ideas never born, I see a line coming straight out of my soul and forming miracles, miracles created from the very heart of my being...
Over the years I have lost the fine motor control in my hands, I also have lost 95% of the feeling in the outer layers of skin on my hands, I still draw sometimes, but they are few and far between...
But I still see that magic line in my head, sometimes when the pain is almost unbearable I close my eyes and see it, and i keep my eyes closed and forget about the world around me and in my mind I follow that line..to see where it leads me...Is there a child waiting on the other end of it? Or is there a dead tree alone in a field, one that is beautiful despite its decay and loneliness?
It can be anything because its magic you see?
I have a million finished lines in my head, each more beautiful than the next, and there is even one I am still following... this line was not started by me...someone else drew it, some call it a lifeline, but me I call it another magic line because you see as i follow it i do not know where it will end, but only i can control what path it will take because i am the artist, it is my soul that shapes this line and only I truly see the masterpiece it is creating...
That is the beauty of it ......
Its a magic line that i see....Do you see?

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
I am sorry you are unable to do your art but it sounds you do it in your head. The key to what you have written is that no matter where our health has taken us we have choices on how to shape our life.
Bravo for you.

Bet there are other artists at DS who are suffering because of all sorts off illness. A sib of mine is wonderful but won't take the bi-polar meds.
Depression probably causes difficulties also.
Could be there is a need for all artists to share the special woes of being ill.
You could look at other support groups to invite lonely artist.
Just suggesting.
The you are still an artist in your writing.
Btw I wonder are you typing or dictating your posts? Just curious if it's the former, perhaps you might try a digital pen to bring back some of the artistic? They can be a bit of a challenge tech-wise, and aren't as kinesthetic as regular art tools; but still could be part of artistic expressions. There is also a pictionary game for ps3, xbox, wii with a tablet - might be a fun way to bring your magic line to life :)
It also occurs to me the old story about life being like needlepoint - when viewed from underneath it looks messy and tangled, but viewed from the opposite side it forms an image or saying or shows a work in progress...

As far as my dictation I type my posts out on my screen, since i have to visually use my hands i purchased a touchscreen computer so i type on the screen i am looking at, and yes i have used digital tools to try and draw with, i have the touchscreen i can use either my finger or a stylus with and although i have had limited success with this, the medium just doesn't feel natural to me. I am currently pursuing other options like painting and sculpting with clay. Some way some how i will always find a way to express myself...:).....Kris.....
Thanks.
