Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
Not saying exercise isn't good for you but you need to talk to someone, like your dr. first and see what it is safe to do.
HUGS!
I know how hard this is. You're a young, good looking man.
You need to be SO careful with this.
You know how easily you can hurt yourself....or yourself can hurt you.
Have you talked to a dietician?
I agree with Dixei that you ought to talk to your doc.
I wish there were an easy answer.
Hugs.....jc..
Again, though...ask your doc first.
Hug again....jc..
dixie and jan are right. talk to your MD and work out a reasonable plan.
i know how much it hurts self-esteem as mine swirled around the toilet and still isn't out, but don't add more pain what's already there.
hugs!
I don't do alot of excersize but am still having some slow sucess with my weight loss. One thing that i try and do is to get outside every day. not so much to walk but to move my body doing anything works for me sweeping the garage always needs doing at my house so that gets done often
Good luck and take care
Michael
Not to mention the fact that all the additional weight is destroying my hips and knees. I recently lost my access to where I was doing my aqua therapy, once again life is beating me down....
I've had enough, today I start hitting back...Kris.....
i think we're all dealing with that feeling. i was very active, too, and used to being in good shape.
also, remember stress creates fat.
i lost my bookmarks with computer crash, but i found some good exercises i could do in a chair on youtube. maybe under back injury exercises. i'm sorry you can't get to the aqua therapy. that's so low stress.
hang in there. we're all here to see you through this.
Try to start easy! If you do too much the first day so you are too sore the second you might not want to keep it up. Getting exercise everyday is important.
Please know that a lot of us can related to this if for different reasons.
When I got sick and started having the severe Chronic Pain three yrs ago...I was 48yrs old, but could pass for early to mid thirties on good days (just good genes, I guess). I had 'perfect measurements...
(They look a lot better on women taller than me, haha). Only six percent body fat.....a beautiful head of hair......you get the picture. I'm not bragging...I was just lucky...and did work at keeping my body in shape.
I now look well past my yrs....am severely underweight(my skin doesn't fit any more)....have lost about two-thirds of my hair.....
Chronic pain takes a toll on every thing.
One would think with all of our other problems.....vanity would have no place in our lives. One would be wrong. I avoid mirrors. I avoid being seen by those outside of my family. I'm embarrassed for my husband to be seen with me....he's still a very attractive man.
I'm glad you're talking about this. I sometimes feel I must be incredibly shallow for this to still matter to me. But I am still a woman. Who wants to be attractive to her husband.......
Who would NEVER want me to do something painful or harmful to my self.....as I'm sure your wife doesn't, Kris.
We have to go at solutions carefully, my friend.
Well, this was a ramble....guess you touched a nerve.
Hugs.....jc..
I have the same problem on and off for years now with the various meds I took including steroids which really blew me up. I tried watching how much I ate and doing gentle stretch exercises every day and still could not lose everything. Back in September I read this book called Sugar Busters and followed the recommendations. It worked like a charm and I was eating healthier without starving myself just cut out a lot of the sugar foods which are many more than most realize and also listened to doc about eating the protein first then the carbs cause the protein helps body digest the carbs faster. Hope something works for you so you can fill your pockets again and feel better about yourself.
jc I'm sorry about what has happened to you...I too was considered pretty hot...shape and looks...now I look older than my years...stress from all this i guess.
But I would recommend a change in diet rather than exercising at this point. I have found that eating slowly helps to cut down the portions and eliminating sugars and heavy carbs helps keep weight down. It takes discipline and will power but it's worth it. (of course, cheating now and then is good for the soul).
I hope you find a healthy way to get your shape back.
