Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

I dunno I bet so many here welcome this one...I am skeptically inclined about it....but lets welcome the research eh? Yeay!
injecting things into the spinal column seems just too dangerous in light of recent contaminations of injectable and poor sanitary methods in compounding pharmacies.
The problem with so many trials is that they choose only the PERFECT potential patients so the results are already skewed. Then they tend to ignore the real dangers of messing with the spinal cord.
Doctors already doing such "procedures" take a weekend course and step into offering treatments to patients. They get paid $$$$$ for these sorts of "procedures" so they prefer them.
Then there is the statement made
"deal with the often dangerous, unpredictable side-effects of prescription painkillers"
I never trust any ad that is this one sided.
"unpredictable side-effects" - wow! Reading this makes one think that these meds are not used millions of times a day, every single day in post op care, in ER's all over the world, and for acute injuries, car accidents, and on and on.
This pushes this "new" therapy without any real tip of the hat to the real value of current therapies.
I don't trust anything this one-sided.
However, pain in and of itself tells doctors where to look; what might be wrong depending on where it originates from. If this new drug eliminates the neurons that tell our brain there is pain then this would affect every sensor for pain not just target the one that causes our chronic pain in the specific area. In acute pain such as appendicitis and a triple A (aortic aneurysm)it is vital to identify using symptoms within an hour in some cases to 12 to 24 hours or the patient could die. In many cases pain is an important part of symptomology.
I would give anything to take everyone's pain away and I have said it here on more than one occasion. However, I am not sure how I feel about this one based on the danger associated with removing it altogether. However, it opens the door for more research on it for sure!! Thank you for the info....very interesting for sure!!!
