Okay so- Im cooled down now enough to at least type this out. I really never get on here to vent but I need to....>> now.

So hope fully I can condense this down to short version.
I go in for my appt with Suboxone Doc. Started this about a month and a half ago....(been on Oxycodone for years for pain control) and the Suboxone has been working pretty darn well.
He says...." well...I think its time to start thinking about going down on the medicine." * NOW mind you, according to him this stuff was THE GREATEST THING NEXT TO F'ING SLICED F'ING BREAD ! * He said it can be taken forever if need be - works great for pain - it the mOST WONDERFUL drug of ALL the drugs in the laaaand.
SO WTF!!?? I asked him "well then what am I going to DO for pain control then - I DONT want to go back to taking an Opiate type med...wouldnt that be defeating the purpose to go off of this??!!" Then he said something that is beyond ridiculous... "ahhh you'll be okaaay... dooont woorrry...you worry TOO much!"
He said well you take too many meds as it is... ( he doesnt even have anything to do with any of my other care- he is SUBOXONE DOC ONLY!) So what the f does he care what I HAVE to do with my other situations?? Its none of his business! I'M THE ONE... TAKING ALL THE MEDS IF HE SEEs IT THAT WAY - ( he is anti med about everything - doesnt think a person should be on anything!) But thats HIS opinion! He is lucky that he doesnt have to do what I HAVE to do but its all on me - Its what I HAVE TO DO-- NOT HIM grrr it was like talkign to a BOARD! I was SO frustrated, he wouldnt listen to me. Every doc I have had would at least be open minded to listen to what I have to say- I couldnt believe ignorant he was. I said you just dont know what I have to go through... you dont get it. I have had to take meds for YEARS - it what I HAVE to do !!

So now he says "well you can go off of this because there are ALWAYS other options"... I said "WHA? What do you mean OTHER options!? " HE was SO in favor of the pain control that his other patients have had(with the Suboxone) blah fricken blah. He told me how great this stuff was- so tell me again now, WHY are we changing things??
Anyway...So I said "well I have tried EVERYTHING what do you mean OTHER options!?" He said again "there are other options" I said "WHAT>? What OTHER options are there??" I told him " I have tried everything and I dont think you understand what I am saying- you dont KNOW what I have been through in my life with pain." He says "Well there are ALWAYS other options." ( yes he said it again and we were goin round and round) So I said " Okay name another option because I HAVE TO HAVE a plan here, back up plan... I NEED to know."
He said again "there are just ... options." I said..." I have tried every type and class of meds- I know whats out there - and there ARE NOT "other meds" out there- just name me ONE ."
He said "NO... Im not going to give you one." mmmOkay ... yeah good stuff there. I said "because there ISNT one!" He said "well... I dont have to give you ONE..." I couldn't believe this stuuuupid conversation. So when I left I said..."you arent going to give me just one?" He said " NO>..."

So I know its because he didnt have a CLUE - he is one of those DR.s that is a do as I say and dont even think for yourself. Whatever... I dont have ANY respect for a Doc that doesnt listen to their patients AND wont admit when they dont know something. its as easy as ** well let me check it out... and... I wiIl get back to you on that...I can understand why you would want to know whats next- that is IF we are going to change anything with the Suboxone.** He is NOT going to say "I dont know." I dont respect that. He just argued with me.

AHHH>>>> stupid is as stupid does and stupid does what stupid does... cant fight stupid. :(

WOW so he just keeps you on a med that's been working now he's gonna strip it away from you? OMG that's unreal. So what the eff are you supposed to do about the pain? I guess go back to opiods? I mean you need to take something for the pain.. I'm so sorry hun. These drs in Seattle are a friggin joke sometimes. I had this happen to me with a PM dr. I was on oxycontin and it worked wonderfully. Then at my 2nd appt they decided to NOT prescribe it. My pill count was correct and my UA was right down the line and they still took me off of it. Urrgg! I sent you a PM I had a question for you.. : ) ((hugs))

wow and I thought I have seen stupid doctors before, that one has to take the cake. Yes fire that doc and see a new one. It always blows my mind how a doctor can spend years in school and be totaly stupid. I am so sorry you went through that, no one should ever have to deal with that

I have been on suboxone for months now, and really it is up to the patient when they want to get off not the doctor. unless there was a problem or a side effect. But two weeks it is just getting into your system, what a quack.

I would keep on going there untill you find another suboxone doctor, I would not go back onto opiates if you dont want to. He just wants you to not take anything at all. when we use it for pain control we can take it until we think we dont need it, we dont take it because we are addicts and getting off meds that we went on to get high, he should know the difference.

There are two types of people who take this med, people who use it for pain control and people who use it to block opiates and even the later use it for atleast six months.

I dont know what to tell you, your doctor is uneducated in this med and he is an ass.

The Dr's in the Seattle region are complete fuq nutz. The biggest problem in this area with Subox is that it is marketed and sold to pain management as a drug to get addicts off drugs. It really does suck that you were having good pain control with it. I really would like to try it for pain control as well. Sadly once you started the Subox your idiot Dr was doomed to try and "Clean You Up" because we are all nothing but faking addicts. I seriously bet you that the ass believes that you are faking because the Subox was working. On another note I would report him to the medical board where you live for abuses and malpractice.

I am angry now. We could have really used another effective treatment for pain.

Can you report him to the state's medical board? It doesn't sound very ethical what he did. At the same time, I agree it's time to replace this dolt. Again with the morons giving something that helps, only to then take it away like you're a child. It's abusive in my opinion. Then again, I'm a believer of the motto, "Don't get mad, get even." and reporting his ass to a higher authority would be my avenue...but that's me. Best wishes with the hunt for a more humane doctor.

I would be angery also--if he is going to remove your pain medication he should man up and give the names of the alternitive pain control that he insist are out there

duh there aren't any---in my pain management doc office there was an article talking about if the doctors have to raise medication for pain control then they should take the patient off medication it was something put out by the state of Idaho==washington state is on a crusade to get us off our pain medications----I think we are about to re inter the dark ages of pain control , just when we were begining to see the light--they want to put us back into that dark world

It was so shocking that he said "Ahhh you ll be alright... you dont need all that medication... " WTF do you MEAN I dont! You are not in my body you asshole! He said it so flippantly -like he could toy with my life in a way- made me so angry. He is so casual about my pain and how it all affects me - I mean of course YOU dont worry ...you dont have to deal with this !
I agree with g98... It IS like they think you are a druggie coming in there and its his DUTY to be a super hero and clean my ass up. I came in ON mY OWN - looking for pain help and thats all! Somehow I feel he doesnt believe me! Like ahh yeah you are just here to get off all those BAAAD BAAAD drugs out there...NOOOOO Im here for PAIN!! HELP FOR PAINNN!!

when i first read your post i thought to myself "that dosn't make a whole lotta sense, give you somehting that works then take it away and give you no alternatives" that just didn't compute in my head. why would he do that??? then i read g98's response and that makes total sense.
i want to try suboxen for my pain but i'm afraid of going to a clinic because i don't want to get confused with the addicts. I really wish reg docs were licenced to perscribe it just like methadone so we didnt' have to go thru this. I hear subtux works even better than methadone. this could be a really good drug for pain but look what they put us thru to get it?? its flippin nuts man!

i'm so sorry you had to to thru this. i too hate WA state! good lord! we are screwed

Find someone else, either another subox doc or just go back to pain management. This guy is a quack! Don't waste any more time thinking of him or seeing him.

You mention you dont want to get mixed up with the addicts- I know that feeling totally. BUT they have you take a pee test every time ...WHICH I HATE... but it does PROVE that you are NOT an addict. I said why do I have to keep taking these Im not an addict... he said its the law so whatever ....

What BS, OMG, what a freaking F**K head! He is basically telling you that you are a drug addict, because you take too many drugs as it is, and now is that time for you to get off the Subox and take your pain "like a woman!" WTF? I will like to some of these fuckers in as much pain as we are, and we'll see who needs to take "as a woman".... F that!

Get rid of the wacko, find someone else that will put you in Suboxone or whatever it is that you want to try now, and send this jerk to hell! Grrrrrrrrrrr! Doc's like that make me wanna puke!

Awwww llady - I'll just add that I also think he's freaking nuts! I'm suddenly having problems with my doc too (here in WA). It's a new one and she wants to do things differently than my old one. Soooo..because I couldn't tolerate taking 15mg of methadone a day all at once, without being tooo drugged, and I asked for something different. She insisted that I HAD to still try taking it anyway and was sure I'd adjust to it after a couple weeks. So what does she do but drops me down to taking a HALF tab (2.5mg) three times a day and gives me - get this - 56 oxycodone for breakthru pain, and says to take 1-2 tabs of 5mg every 6 hours as needed. WTF? I can't even take 2 tabs of it a DAY without running out. Do the math and you see that even if there was a way to control my pain and take 2 a DAY - it adds up to 62 for this month of 31 days. I tried explaining to her that her idea of the methadone controlling most of the pain is very nice, but I'm not on a therapeutic dose yet, so of course with added activitys now I'm going to experience more pain even than usual! We argued alot, her saying that she's "just trying to prevent me from stopping breathing", AT THAT LOW A DOSE? I stood my ground, telling her that especially with me packing for a cross country move now I NEED EXTRA PAIN RELIEF, not less. She went on to contradict herself a few times and I called her on it! Finally she said that she doesn't have any appts until Sept and that since I have an appt on Aug 18th already, maybe I could space out the oxy and make it till then? I said NO WAY. and said that If she's thinking I have enuff pain to prescribe narcotics in the first place, then she needs to do it properly, not chasing severe pain and "spacing out my dosages" for next few weeks. That just keeps me in a lot of pain about 90% of the time. Grrrrrrr. She finally said it would be best for me to come in soon and just see someone else, cuz she doesn't feel comfortable giving me narcotics over the phone. Criminy!! That's why I had an appt with her on the 19th of LAST month in the first place - to get these meds prescribed properly so that I can function in life! Last month she went over all the diagnosis I have that cause me pain and said "you poor thing, I can't imagine having so much pain like you do". Oh well... I now have an appt on the 4th, so we'll see what 'the next idiot' does. I'm afraid this 'attitude of concern' is connected to that new ruling of managing pain without meds'.
So yea...I understand pissed off way too much today also. I am so sorry you had to experience it too and I hope you're doing something real nice for yourself to decrease the added stress that your 'doctor' (and I say that lightly) has caused you today! Hugzz ~Sandy~

WTF is going on with him? Okay, can I scoop you and Rayroof and Jackie and I can't remember who else is going through this, oh Sandra, and bring you guys here to where you are treated right? This is absolutely ridiculous. I thought he finally listened to you and finally figured that you had some serious pain going on. I am on it for life. So are the other 20 chronic pain/addict patients there, because we became addicts because of our chronic pain. The only ones that are going to be tapering down, and that goes down over months, they don't rush them whatsoever, are the ones that were in there for Heroin and opioid abuse without the chronic pain. The whole entire time I was reading your post, my mouth was wide open, like WHAT? I can't believe what I am reading. What city and state are you in? Let me do some searching and see what I can come up with. This is absolutely ridiculous, you do NOT go off of it. This is what you stay on because as Rayroof has pointed out before, there is no ceiling effect, so like me 24mg been on that for 1 year and 3 months, now why in the fuck would you have to......grrr...I am so mad I can't type right now, I really am. I helped you do this, and now, look, this makes me look bad, I am soo sorry. PM me with that info and let me see what I can do and also with that f-heads name. Damn I wish everyone could just come to our clinic, but there is such a waiting list anyway. I love you my dear and will do everything to help you.
