Hi all- I'll be checking in and out but I'm taking J home to my family in WI for Easter. My niece is in a play (OUR play- Wizard of Oz) and from there we're going to visit my Grandma (96 and still kicking!) in her new "home". We drive 3.5 hours the 1st day, 2 hours the next, then another 2.5 to get to the play at my cousin's house.
After the play we leave early the next day for my hometown, where I will see my Grandma who has Alzheimers and is in a home. She hasn't seen Jaden since October/November. I don't know how I'll be able to handle him if his 2 year oldness kicks in at the "home" but I have other places to go if he can't hold it in.
After 2 nights there, we're back to my cousin's for some egg dying on Friday and playing with cousins. Then Saturday another hour drive out to my Dad's for an early Easter Egg hunt as my stepmother has to work Sunday.
Sunday we're gathering everyone from my Mom's side (my Dad didn't want to participate) and also celebrating J's 3rd birthday a month and a half early as he won't be around there in May. We have a lot of Easter activities in our family and I'm looking forward to this. But...I'll be in charge of Jaden 24/7 for almost 2 weeks. My cousin doesn't have air conditioning hooked up IF it gets hot again and J and I BOTH suffer so from allergies. And I sleep terribly when I have to share a bed with him, which is something I can't avoid for the next 2 weeks.
Anyway, I'm hurting quite a bit from taking him today to an indoor play place. I had to climb a treehouse (indoor) to get to him and he thought it was a game and ran. My foot, back, and shoulders and hurting as it is, but now I have a day of laundry and packing tomorrow, not to mention cleaning out the car.
But I AM treating myself. I'm leaving Sunday by myself to drive to my favorite casino/hotel/spa on the way, and can't WAIT to get there. Room service, massages, and blackjack! ;) But most of all, sleep! I can't WAIT for the sleep!
DH is meeting me there Monday so we can do our Spring shopping (clothes) at the outlet mall there, and he'll bring Jaden. I'm tired just thinking about it! But also looking forward to it.
I'm truly praying that this family visit goes well and there's no fussing as our Xmas was RUINED. This is the 1st time I've seen them all since then and I'm unsure if we've moved past some of the fights. I hope so.
Mostly I'm worried about keeping up with Jaden, but he loves adventure so I'm hoping God will give me the strength. Also hoping HE will take away some pain this week. I'm always so busy there that I often forget to take my meds on time. It's no excuse, but it's true. I'll have to set my cell phone alarm to make sure I don't end up with a blue sweaty foot from the RSD!
Anyway, I feel like I'm leaving one family (DS) for another, and while I can check in, I often get so busy that I forget. So I'm wishing you all a painless few weeks, a Happy Easter/Passover, and lots of love. I'll be here in spirit, and I always go back and read the posts.
Tonight I'm aching more than a bit b/c of the outing with my son, but I won't ever REGRET it. I just need to take some motrin or something on top of my meds. I wish hubby was home so I could lay down. I'm actually sleepy enough to sleep at this point, but my allergies are a mess. I woke last night to acid reflux after only a couple of hours, and found my left eye is irritated terribly. My sinuses are draining through my eye, as well as my nose. As much as I'm looking forward to a few hands of blackjack, I'm hoping for a smoke-free table. This weather here is going to be the death of me!
MI has gone bi-polar! It's heat one day and the air conditioning the next. Sudafed helps some, but when one is THIS tired...
In any case, I hope this trip isn't biting off more than I can chew. I do it twice a year, sometimes more, but I wonder if I'm getting too far gone to do it. Plus I'm embarrassed about my disabled placard and hope my nieces don't find it. I'm already hiding my cane. It's there if I need it, but not so obvious that people will focus on me.
Okay, I'll be checking in tomorrow and Sunday- wish me luck!

She doesn't like her kids to be idle for too long and that IS good, but she also doesn't "get" how I can sit for 10 minutes and rest. I think she's a little bipolar- she has high highs and low lows, but she's an amazing woman and she's been a sister to me, more so than my brother was a brother. We were raised together as our moms are sisters and the only siblings, but then my Mom (the stable one) died and this family just spun out. I'm the ONLY one who doesn't live in the same area of that state so when I come it's crazy trying to arrange to see everyone.
I do it at least twice a year (I go the extra 4 hours to my hometown twice a year and see my family @ my cousin's about 4x a year) but I've never gone with so many problems. But, I'll live, and I get to see my nieces/Goddaughters and I ADORE them. If it gets bad on a day we're not too busy (if we even have one) my niece wants to babysit and that will help a lot.
Meanwhile I'm just dreading any warm weather, as both J and I are always too hot. But it's family, right? And we're celebrating 2 birthdays and I get to see my nephews, too, and my best friends since birth!
Okay, I could go on forever. Thanks for the luck and let's hope it works at the casino as well as my family, LOL!
