Doc, I agree that stress increases the pain. For me the pain is high, low stress does not lower my pain; however if I allow stress to increase it definitely messes with my pain and gastro issues. I am glad that lowering the stress helps you and many others. It is important to keep stress low in our lives. Each person reacts to pain differently, and throughout life their ability to deal with pain changes.
Jeremy, your issue is different from stress. Yes it causes stress but the just like me your world changed in a flash with that accident. Two ideas that might be worth looking into. One ask your doctor if he/she can control your pain better without the side effects causing mental fogginess. Second, I don't know if Career Central is nationwide, but they evaluate how you are functioning today and help you find a new job. They will even train you for a job if meet the criteria needed. Look them up, if they are not where you are, see if there is an organization like them.
Not everyone can work, but some people can work flexible hours. And some of those can be done from home. Just some ideas if you are interested.
Hugs to everyone-RJ
