Chronic Pain Support Group

This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

I just said on another thread that I'd been wondering about bringing something up here..
This might bother some..
And..I figure most would rather not reply..I get that.
My PM Dr. Is strict..in that..she doesn't change meds between appntmnts...tests regularly....so on..
I like that about her..I don't have worries she'll be closed down..you need a referral and documentation to see her.........
She does adjust my meds when needed...and has..over the yrs..loosened things up on me..( almost never a pill count...)
She knows..because I've outright said so..that I don't stick to the letter of my scripts..
Like..one day I might be able to take less BTs..and ..if I have it..I might take an extra as needed.
I'm not going to be too clear here..'cause I'd never advocate misuse of meds..and I'm not now...but..this could be done with what I'm thinking.
Due to the way my patch is currently prescribed....
There is a way to increase my dose so as to actually have mobile relief for some periods of time...which...many of you know..isn't usually the case.
It would not be in keeping with as prescribed..or reccomended usage.
I'm talking maybe six.eight hours of mobile relief..
Some of yo know how big that is..( this would be about ..every-other day.
I'm torn.
Part of me knows this probably isn't like taking an extra BT..
Part of me LONGS for that free mobility.
Left to my own thinking..I'd just do it...I keep im#gining what I can do in those hours..
But..if it's really OK..why am I questioning myself?
So..there that is.
If anyone else posted this..I'd warn them of possible dangers..
So..will add..yrs ago, when I had horrific injuries from an accident..I was on significantly more of the same Med for some time.
OK...hit me with it...:-)

I have a lot on my plate which is nothing new and I try to cope in many positive ways and do but I still have my moments. My kids more so my daughters talk to me about everything which I know it's cause of comfort and we are close.... however I really struggle with the venting about their dad which...

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

If you aren't sure I would ask the doctor. To me not being sure and having that little bit of doubt is a sign. I am all for less pain. None of us can no another's pain unless we walk in their shoes.
That is why this is a hard question to answer.

I would ask the doctor, and keep a pain journal with a stick drawing to show the pain at what times. I did this, and it helped us to find a compromise for the treatment plan.
Less pain sounds wonderful. However, my only caution is the "rebound pain" and that was what I experienced, wouldn't wish it on anyone.
Best wishes.
And, thank you for replies..
I just was talking in PM about this..
And..have already concluded that I'd not be questioning myself if this was something I should do.
It feels like a violation of my Dr's trust, I guess.
I'll just have to try to be patient..
She does work well with me at trying to get me more mobile.
Thanks.

It's not everyday, but so I can get out once a week. I have good Dr's. Although now the word is I'm a "drug addict" I don't fel like going any where. Give. Me a few days, I will be head high and out that front door even just for a cup of coffee!
I understand we. Are trying to make deals with our pain and Dr all the time because we feel so bloody trapped! Love ya x
Talk to your doc and tell her how you're feeling. She obviously trusts you to do the right thing.

As I've told a couple people privately..
This is partly my own fault.
I tend to understate my pain with my Dr's...drives my husband nuts..
But..I never want to seem to be exxagerating..
So..yeh..I need to wait and talk with my Dr.
She's been pretty good to me..
Like I said..she knows I fluctuate my breakthrough meds when needed..
Just doesn't seem the same with this, though..
So..I'm with you guys.
I hate trying to be patient...:-)
Makes me a lousy patient..:-)
Hugs
I understand what you are trying to say here and how you are feeling. I use the pain patch and I also have breakthrough medication for when it gets to where I'm throwing things around my room and crying. I am at the top of what is allowed so I ask my wonderful doctor to please check my liver every 6 months, which he doesn't mind doing. As for the pain patch, I asked him on my last visit, if I could leave the one that is due to come off, on one extra day until the new one is working at it's full potential. For me, I get one good day from the patch and that is it. I usually end up cleaning and doing more then I should and lose that one good day anyway. My doctor was fine with that. I'm not sure if that is what you were trying to describe, I'm a little slow sometimes, but I have never asked for an early script, and my doc and I have a lot of trust in each other which is hard to find with doctors now. I'm glad you have a good one too. I, like everyone else, understand how horrible the pain can become. I am so grateful for DS
