Last night I shared this with my hubby and son and they suggested that I let her do the therapy over my head and then midway through, start yelling OOw, Stop it, you are making it worse!!
Seriously though, part of a coping mechanism in chronic pain is to be distracted, but to be distracted while someone is rubbing me the wrong way is just going to be volitile. After reading your posts I think I will stay away from my cousin for a while and she is free to experience life as she will. I do understand where she is coming from, but I've been around people like this before and I just can't be around that right now.
As for my sister, she has seen me suffer, as Sammy pointed out, and I know she does care. I'm going to email so I dont' explode and explain why my cousin and her ideas upsets me. This way it is not an attack on my sister and she is privy to some information about me. Loved ones shouldn't be held accountable for single sentences, but for the whole of their being.
Thanks again guys, you helped me get here.
Love you guys. Thanks for sharing my pain.
I don't think others understand. We don't only live in pain that is severe but it takes a toll on every aspect of our lives. Takes a huge amount of energy physically & emotionally. We have to fight for whatever quality we have. So to make comments & suggestions like that is hard pill to swallow for those of us who live this kind of life.
We want our loved ones to understand so badly. You have made wise choices & I hope your sister understands. The best of luck to you.
Blessings, Sammy
HUGS to you and lots of support! :-)
I think I did the fad diets because I was desperate and wanted them to work but they never did I had to get to the root of the problem and eat healthy and exercise as the saying goes cant get nothing for free you got to work at it.
I think if it was me that I would think in the back of my mind they were thinking that my Migraines were not something big it was something so small that they could fix it with energy bars waving over my head and I would think deep down that they dont get how serious it is in my life.
As far as your migraines i have the utmost sympathy for you. when i was in my early twenties i suffered from migraines so severe i sat in the dark and cried and threw up for 5-10 hours at a time. My mother is the only one that gave me a cure for those though. she pulled me aside with tears in her eyes and told me that i had to wait it out and suffer for years. and eventually they would go away. I was pissed at her for that tidbit of advice but it turns out she was right, almost 5 years to the day my migraines started, they abruptly stopped and i never had one again. I found out a year or so later my mother had suffered through them for 6 years in her 20's and my grandfather had them for 5 yrs when he was in his twenties. all i can figure was maybe it was a family tradition...lol
